This place has been here since 1972, and I remember passing by it on my way home from school on the bus. We finally decided to stop and try it. I was a little concern when we were seated right away. No waiting on a Sunday? But then again, it was after 2:00 pm. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The place had a nice warm feel to it. I had the Good Neighbor Cheeseburger with bacon and added avocado. It came with fries. The rest of the family had breakfast. Tina had a Denver omelet. Christina had the chicken fajita omelet. And Austin had a 1/2 order of french toast. We we served with about 15 minutes after ordering. My cheeseburger was really good and came with a small serving of cole slaw. Everyone really enjoyed their meal. Surprisingly, Austin almost finished his french toast. No to go containers on this trip. I know we'll be back again.

I don't know how this place has 4 stars, 256 reviews on yelp? Any one with a taste bud wouldn't give this place more than 2 stars. Let's start with the positives...the location is great, I actually live next door to this place and have been meaning to check it out since I moved in, the interior of the restaurant seems clean, cozy and gives you that "cute neighborhood" restaurant feel. The negatives...the food taste like cafeteria food and seems overpriced for the quality. I ordered 2 eggs and turkey sausage which came with a side of potatoes and wheat toast. The eggs and sausage was okay (it's hard to mess that up), but the bread tasted like paper, the quality of bread they use is extremely low grade, its the worst slice bread I've ever had...the potatoes which I thought was house made is pre-packaged potatoes that seemed like they have been refried over and over, not to mention nothing on my plate had any salt or seasoning what so ever. I've never been to prison, but I imagine that's what prison food taste like...paper! At the end of the day my meal was $16 which seemed way overpriced considering there are better options around the area that cost less. I definitely won't be returning.

I enjoy watching Food Network in particular Triple D, I drive past this place daily on my way to work and haven't paid attention otherwise I would have been here a long time ago. Place is nestled in a small shopping center so if you can find parking on the street do it. Found this place on Yelp, liked the reviews and decided to pay them a visit. The minute we stepped in we felt like we were home at moms for breakfast, we were greeted by a lovely lady, whom we think is the owner, and informed us the wait would be around 15 minutes. We sat down for a brief moment and our names were called, the staff is extremely friendly and fast. I ordered create your own omelet with chorizo and it was amazing! we also ordered their honey wheat pancakes and those too were amazing! they were so big that my friend and I ended up sharing them. We loved this place so much that we came back the following weekend lol.

I am in search for the best breakfast burrito and my research has led me here for the best breakfast burrito Studio City has to offer. They caught my attention by adding tri-tip to their breakfast burrito. Sounds great on paper but when I took a bite the meat did not have much flavor. The pico de gallo did not help because that also lacked flavor. They did pack it with lots of cheese so that's a plus. My friend's chorizo breakfast burrito was seasoned much better. The best thing to come out of the meal though were the cottage fries. Well seasoned and crispy, but fries do not make a meal satisfactory. To my disappointment this breakfast adventure did not start out with a bang. Hopefully the next place will fare better.

Pros: Nice breakfast place. Friendly, family style atmosphere. Reasonable prices. Fine food. Cons: Be ready for a very long wait. For a party of 4, a "few minutes" wait turned into a 1/2 hour. Also the parking is a real big problem. They have a super small lot with super tight parking spaces. Very limited street parking available. One more thing - single stall bathroom for the entire restaurant! Crazy!
I am a huge fan of Nat's early bite and never tried good neighbor but I have to say, the portions are great the prices are fair and they have $6 Bloody Mary's and mimosas!

Once I get every time I come back to Los Angeles this is one of the places I have to eat at and have their chicken tarragon omlet. I'm back in town for a photo shoot. This is a really good brunch spot on Cahuenga right near Universal. Their cottage fries (as other reviews have mentioned) are delicious, and their menu has plentiful options of omelets, breakfast specials, sandwiches, salads, the like...totally hits that sweet spot of home cooked food. They do close at 3pm, so keep that in mind when visiting!

Regular old diner food at best. Not bad, but not really good either. I had the corned beef and hash with the cottage fries. The hash tasted like everyone else's...probably straight from the can, nothing homemade about it. The cottage fries were ok, not worth the praise other have given them, but the onions and peppers that topped them off tasted dull watery and were probably frozen. My girlfriend had the spinach tomato and mushroom omelette. The veggies were fresh enough but unseasoned, and the eggs were obviously from a carton, again pretty bland and unseasoned. The place was crowded for a Monday at lunch time. About 1230pm. The service was good, attentive without interrupting too much. The food came out in a timely manner and all requests were handled very quickly. Overall, this place would be an expected experience in a small town middle of nowhere, but doesn't stand up to the numerous great places in studio city.

We were in town for a wedding at the Sheraton and needed a quick brekkie before starting the day. Hubby found this place a la yelp and we were very pleased with the friendliness of the staff and our breakfast. Hubby had his usual eggs benny and I had the croissant sandwich. The spots are very limited and tight in the lot but there seems to be ample space on the main street and around the corner towards the residential area.

Mine was the spinach, mushroom and tomato, and his was some create-your-own deliciousness. Both were ordered with pepper jack cheese. AAAAAHMAZING. It's not gourmet by any means, but it is perfect for the little breakfast diner that it is. Oh, and we ordered salsa on one of the omelets and they forgot to put it on there, so the waiter brought it out a little late but still took it off the bill. *Thanks :)* However, the food was so good, we didn't even know it was missing! *Parking is awful. The parking lot gets crammed so if you can find a spot in the street, take it!

Great local eats when I used to work in the Universal City area as I can just walk there for lunch and not worry about parking as this is very popular amongst the locals. Pros: 1) Grubby diner food that might remind you of home if you're from the South or the sticks. 2) Pretty extensive menu. 3) It's there. Cons: 1) The food is horrible. Everything looked like it came right out the freezer. I ordered the apple pancakes - which ended up being pancakes with chunks of hard, undercooked apples in them. I just picked out the apples pieces. Gross. My friend's home fries were totally processed pieces of potato mash pressed together (again, straight out of a bag). 2) I didn't find the old-school, "homey" diner decor endearing at all. It's like a downscale Denny's. 3) The parking lot is a nightmare.

I came here today for lunch with a friend who comes here all the time. I was kinda skeptical because I had only an hour for lunch but we were able to get in and out with plenty of time to kill The host and wait staff are very friendly. I tried the Good Neighbor Burger and added avocado, it came with fries and coleslaw. Everything was great, and very reasonably priced. I plan on coming here again so I can try their breakfast. Really nice, quant restaurant with framed celebrity pictures on the wall. I would say this place is perfect for any meal of the day. I was putting all my eggs in one basket for Good Neighbor Restaurant (pun intended, as it was breakfast); because it was my last solid meal at 7:30am the day of my wisdom tooth extraction surgery. Due to this, I needed a large, solid meal to keep me filled before the multiple days of post-surgery baby food/mashed diet (which really wreaks havoc on your stomach, in case you were wondering). I walked into the quintessential neighborhood breakfast dining experience. A pair of cops in the corner knoshing on pastries and coffee, an elderly couple eating eggs while reading the local paper, and a welcoming hostess whom allowed us to pick any table we wanted. Seating is ample with one large main room and a smaller side room. Similar to a Denny's but without the commercialized feel, the dining room is bright and airy. My last solid meal before saying buh-bye to my wisdom teeth forever consisted of fresh-squeezed orange juice and a plate of Eggs a la Frisdale ($8), while my boyfriend ordered a full-stack of Banana Pancakes with coffee. Made up of two large poached eggs on a large piece of Canadian bacon ham, sprawled on two English muffins covered in cheddar cheese sauce (versus the traditional hollandaise); and served with round potatoes similar to home fries with chunks of onions and green bell peppers; my plate was covered with a very large serving. The eggs were soft and perfectly poached, while the ham was thick enough for flavor but not too overwhelming. The english muffins were probably one of the best English muffins I've had (fresh bakery moistness) but unfortunately, the cheddar cheese sauce lacked a sharp flavor and I would have preferred the hollandaise and more of it. The potatoes were EXCELLENT, however. I'm not a fan of tater tots or hashbrowns so I welcomed these potatoes. Almost like flat fries, they were crisp on the outside, soft inside and perfectly golden. I topped it with Tapatio and ketchup and ate them all up. My boyfriend's full-stack (3) of Banana Pancakes were HUGE! It looked like large moons or planets of pancakes. The service was very fast and kind. It seemed like there was no set waitress and we were served/helped by anyone on duty walking by. Although that sounds chaotic, it actually implied a family-like atmosphere. Overall, I will always have Good Neighbor in my memory bank as my last breakfast grinded down by my now non-existent wisdom teeth but the food itself is a bit less memorable. Definitely better than a Denny's or Ihop or even the local Noho/Studio City diners, but not out-of-this world.

What's nice about this breakfast/lunch only restaurant is the feeling of community one gets here. It's a place that feels like Hollywood, with lots of head shots hanging on the walls, and plenty of pretty people, but it has a real courteous staff and warmth that prevents this from turning into plasticland. They serve good, solid food: omelettes, pancakes, burgers, freshly squeezed orange juice. The prices are moderate, and the service is efficient. About the only downside is the parking. This is a strange mini-mall, grafted onto a hilly street, and one has to make an awkward turn to get into the tightly packed parking area. You cannot easily park on the steeply ascending residential street behind the mall, nor can you swiftly park on fast moving Cahuenga with its speeding cars and freeway entrances. But once inside, this is a family-friendly place where everyone from older people to younger creative types can congregate and enjoy the food.

My sister lives down the street and all the times I've come here it is always a great experience. I've only come here during breakfast and it's been good every time. Best bacon I've ever had NOT at Burning Man. Super thick and yet amazingly crispy. They must've fought the devil to get this recipe. The cheeseburger and fries were good just not "best ever" status. When you order an Arnold Palmer, they give you a carafe with about 3 servings in it, I liked that I didn't have to ask the waiter for another.

I LOVE THE GOOD NEIGHBOR RESTAURANT!!! I've been there many times for breakfast and lunch. The food is delicious and the service is very friendly and fast. I had heard about it for YEARS, but never went because there are about 200 restaurants between my home and The Good Neighbor. And, the parking is a little scarce. But, I finally decided to stop on my way home, from an audition in Hollywood. I was so glad I did. Now, I go there after every local audition and celebrate. We also go on weekends sometimes, too. The egg-white omelettes are fantastic, as well as all the breakfast items. And, they have cottage fries, which are yummy round waffle potatoes, with bell peppers and onions mixed in. I ask for no onions and they make them to-order for me. Their breakfast meats are also top-notch! For lunch, the Cahuenga Special is a great choice, if you want to sample a couple of things. It's a half-sandwich with a salad or soup. They also have great full sandwiches. They all come w a small cup of cole slaw and fries. The owners of the restaurant are always there and greeting you with a smile when you walk in the door. There are pictures of movie stars on the walls, which gives it that Hollywood- Studio City feel! Try it- you'll like it!

It's great food and a Good Neighborhood restaurant as I found out in person! Quick Story: Sitting next to us was a table of firemen from the fire department next door. During their meal, they got a call and high-tailed it out of there with their food half-eaten. The waiters didn't clear it and 20 minutes later they came back and finished! I found out from the waiter that the fire department cooks a few meals for the staff every year! I had the "special" scramble: Turkey sausage, mushrooms, peppers and cheese - awesome! They also offer their cottage fries as a side and those are quite good too. Jenny had the shrimp pita mini-sandwiches which she really enjoyed. It came with a home-made thousand island sauce which she raved about. The only reason I didn't give this place 5-stars was their coffee wasn't particularly good. It was drinkable but bitter. The service was ok but they were pretty busy and didn't refill coffee as much as they should have. Overall, it was fine. Good Neighbor is one of my favorite Valley breakfast joints!

Went there for brunch for the first time today. The place is nice - it's clean and everyone is really friendly. The food isn't as good as some other places I've been to, but it wasn't horrible. I was not a fan of their potatoes. They were more like round french fries with a few little bits of peppers and onions on top. If you are into diner type places check it out...but if you like real potatoes drive a bit up the street and check out the Magnolia Grill. It's more like a diner you'd find on the East coast.

I really enjoyed breakfast at the Good Neighbor Restaurant. Although they only serve the standard breakfast fare, it was a nice option outside of universal city walk. Prices are reasonable. We stayed at the Hilton and it is within walking distance from the hotel although you would have to walk under an overpass. Parking is in a small lot, but should be ok. There is also street parking. Husband and I had the pancake special and french toast special. The pancakes were huge and fluffy. Try the sausage, it was delicious.

Disclaimer: One of my Favorite places so take this review as you will. The Good Neighbor really should change their name to The Great Neighbor. The food is always fresh, well prepared and tasty. Though I have to confess that I almost always get the Hollywood on white toast I have had everything on the menu at least once. Everything worth ordering again. Some might say the food is simple. But simple done well is still very good food. The staff is always friendly and your drink will never be empty. On top of everything else that I love about this place, it is cheap! On a side note it has also been a great place for celebrity sightings. Never bothered any of them but like to know that even the wealthy actors and actresses in LA who can afford to go anywhere also appreciate The Good Neighbor.

I am a long-time regular at this great breakfast and lunch place. Since 1987, I've enjoyed the hospitality, great food and friendly service. It is priced well and the food is, simply, top notch. So glad that my boss told me about this place! To-go order? 15 Minutes. Everything will be packaged up and ready for you to take. I've ordered for 3 and I've ordered for 6, both times the food has been ready in 15 minutes. This is a GREAT feature when you are picking up for your bosses around lunch and can't get to them before 12:30PM. Scrambles are delicious and very large. Can't do 5 stars because I've never eaten in, and I also had an unpleasant experience with the man who answered the phone when I tried to phone in my order last time...so much so that I didn't end up calling back, I just ordered from Jumpin' Java instead. Whenever I have called and a woman has taken my order, she's been very kind and a true delight. If Vivian's is packed down the street, and you want to actually eat a breakfast, not stop at Starbucks, give this place a shot, it won't disappoint. It's also cheaper than Jumpin' Java, so if you don't think your friends/family/children will appreciate the brie, sun-dried tomato and portobello mushroom omelette for 13 dollars (though they should) take them here instead.

This is a little diner, positioned in a strip mall off Ventura/cahuenga pass. Priced perfectly for breakfast the food should not be expected to be marvelous. It's good diner food and a reasonable price. Service is friendly. Two Cons: Parking and closes at 3 pm everyday. Too early on my watch.

The friendliest, best customer service. Everything on the menu is great. 7a-3p everyday - don't let the long line on the weekends bother you - wait is never too long and it's worth it, but arrive before 9am if you want immediate seating. The oatmeal is fabulous, but don't ignore the omelets. Owners Betty and Rick will get to know your name if you come often enough, but one time visitors will still feel welcome.

Always fresh and consistent. One of my stable lunch Coffee shops. Even though it is near the studios you don't get the Hollywood types. My best is the vegetarian pita sandwich with lots of cabbage avocado and swisss cheese, always fresh and good portions. Excellent breakfast too. Love the pancakes and eggs Benedict. Service is always fast and friendly. Parking is sometimes a hassle but well worth it.

Ok, I'm gonna try to be succint. Went to 'Neighbor' because it was mentioned in a Yelp! email. We normally go to Jan's- that place is awesome!!! This place is just ok, however the prices are AMAZING. A full $7 less than Jans for an omelette. But as the old adage says, 'you get what you pay for'. My omelette was boring, tasteless and sitting in a puddle of spinach 'sweat'. Yuck! My boyfriend's brekky sammy with home fries (tasted pretty much like fries) looked pretty rad tho and he was happy because he "got full". (men are such simple creatures!) Things to note: VERY limited parking, NO substitutions (tough for a gluten-freer like me), the atmosphere and feng shui is great.

MONEY!!! pretty good breakfast for decent price, you really can't go wrong with this place. Not to mention cheap mimosas!! Friendly staff as well make for a pleasant experience. Definitely taking my friends here before we head to Universal Studios or different attractions in the area. Definitely worth it.

Good Neighbor is one of my and my hubby's fave sunday brunch spots. Breakfast is served all day. Service is sooooo friendly. Food is good. Our favorites are the strawberry pancakes and these breakfast potato slices that are baked. The wait can get pretty long though and the restaurant can get kinda crowded (especially sunday mornings). The parking lot is small so parking can be a pain as well. There's street parking but the spaces get filled pretty quickly.

After taking a look at a few possible yelper suggestions, we settled in at Good Neighbors. Great menu selections for both healthy and indulgent eating:-) I noticed that they have mimosas for $4.75 and bottles of champagne for 18. Not bad... I was going for weight watchers choices today, so I chose the Cahuenga special. It included a salad, cup of soup and a half sandwich. The chicken soup was delicious - homemade with chunks of celery, chicken, noodles and potatoes. I got the turkey sandwich and it was nice - multigrain bread, moist turkey. I think I spent about 6 weight watchers points for lunch and I was very happy with the meal. Service was great and very friendly people at the register as well. We'll definitely put this on our hollywood/burbank route!

Maybe not worthy of 5 stars - but I always leave happy, full, and not much lighter in the wallet. Sunday breakfast with tip for 4 is under $40 and we get fancy coffee, OJ... well we plain just get too much. Great for weekend breakfast - kids love it (crayons & mints at the cash register). I love that it is family run - Mom & Pop are hosts, a few of their kids are wait staff... we only go maybe 10 times a year - but they always remember us. Perfect for breakfast or lunch (not open after 3pm)... Pancakes are nice, big but light - go for the banana pancakes! I love the build your own egg dishes - I almost always add the salsa which is more like pico de gallo - but it is HOT. Only bad things are a short wait if you go at brunch rush, and the parking can be a pain, if you are coming from the west - just grab the 1st spot on the street 1/2 between Lankershim and the next block.

Only been here for breakfast. Can't complain about a thing here. Great food, amazing service, low prices, it has it all. All you can ask for in your neighborhood diner. I sat 2 tables away from Brian Austin Green and Tom Green, having a similar hungover breakfast as me here. I wonder if they are related. If Brian had brought Megan Fox instead, I would have given this place 6 stars. I always have my hungover coffee, 2 eggs over medium and bacon with potatoes here when I wake up in the area. SOLID.

A great place to see your favorite celebs just relaxing, eating brunch... but waaaaay overpriced in my opinion. Okay, not way overpriced - maybe a few dollars more than nescessary to spend on breakfast or lunch. Is it location costs or is it because celebs frequent it? Is it famous for being famous? Who knows. I recommend it to all the clients who request a breakfast place and it's saved my company's ass more than once by whipping up snazzy breakfast items that other areas don't tout. But honestly it's not like it's the BEST breakfast place in the world and I didn't leave it going "OH MY GOD, THIS IS SO WONDERFUL I WON'T EVER EAT ANYWHERE EVER AGAIN". It was just ehh, it's okay. Not worth the price at all! So why do I give it four stars? Because the service is nice, the patrons aren't assholes, and it is a piece of history - average breakfast or not. The only downsides are the parking lots, the prices, and perhaps the fact that it IS famous for just being famous.

The Good Neighbor is a gem in an unsuspecting locale- a strip mall off Cahuenga (not quite over the hill). Its a husband/wife who run it. Great vibe. Great food, great service. I get the feeling a lot of more mature industry type people eat here. Lots of people reading or writing, or discussing life or the biz. My parent's and I come here for brunch every so often. Always good. Food. Yum. Great breakfasts, great tuna melt. Usually a wait but they have a nice waiting area with rags like "Tolucan Times," so you can always read your horoscope in the back of a lesser known paper! Good times! Or do an easier version of Suduku.

What I like about this place is the familiarity. It feels like one of those old diners your grandpa used to take you too. A place where he used grab breakfast with his golf buddies before hitting the course. Offering standard breakfast and lunch options (eggs, pancakes, sandwiches and soups), the food is wholesome and hearty. Classic 'what your mom' makes you when you come home from college. The parking in the lot isn't great so you might want to try your luck on the street. The service is great and attentive. You almost feel like this place is in the midwest, not LA. Something I love about it!

Their coffee was a little on the weak side which is fine--only I like my coffee dark. I have no complaints and recommend this place for breakfast. This is my favorite coffee shop/diner. Family owned and run, small and cozy. The staff, super friendly. The food is nothing fancy. It's essentially carb-loaded comfort food, but man does it taste good!!! I love the chorizo and eggs, sauteed Turkey burger, and polish sausages. They have a few healthy alternatives ( egg whites, veggie burger, etc. ) They're only open from 7 am to 3pm and the parking can be difficult but I have to give it 5 stars simply because every time I go there I feel happy!!!

This is a great spot--one of those truly homey neighborhood family feeling kind of places. Not only that, but it's very reasonably priced. Keep in mind it's truly a breakfast/lunch only place and that it closes at 3 pm every day so don't go expecting to get a late night snack unless you've been out all night and you consider 6am "late". (That's when they open). They have a great pancake sandwich combo for around 5 dollars and don't let the price scare you--it's great. These are not the best pancakes in LA but they're VERY GOOD, better than most, and certainly worth the price. The house coffee is plain american style...not great, doesn't suck. The only tough thing is parking: there's a small lot that gets filled quickly and the street parking is limited to one hour on much of the block so read the signs carefully. I get the feeling that the people who work here have been here for years together...I plan on eating here for years.

I love this place. I moved to LA seven years ago and was brought there by a friend my first month in town. It's fast, and the food is pretty good. My coffee is always full and hot. The food comes quickly and the best part, doesn't cost more then it should. The only down side of the place is that parking is awful, rarely can I just show up and park, usually I have to drive around a bit. The food, price and service all make it worth the extra couple minutes though. Great for a quick breakfast or lunch.

I am surprised there hasn't been a review posted of this wonderful breakfast and lunch spot because it is so gosh darned delicious. For starters -- there is ALWAYS a wait, but it is worth it. Seems a husband and wife run the place, nestled in a strip mall on that unassuming strip of Ventura next to Pacifica radio. Never-ending coffee, wonderful side dishes, fantastic omelettes (I tried the special with a sausage omelette and the waitress suggested I try it scrambled up, delish!) They don't joke around too much-- portions are perfectly sized, but not too much so you're fuller than necessary. Great people watching, wonderful service, nothing to ever complain about. And if you do happen to have to wait, the wonderful store next door has some cool trinkets if you're into spiritual/funky stuff. Again, I remind you, be prepared to wait, but it's worth it!

old people and gays like diners, i don't know why and i'm not going to analyse it. this place is good. the food is not as good as silver spoon, but it's good enough. all the servers are nice and they are just as fast with the coffee refills here as they are at foxy's. when i get tired of my usual circuit of gay/old people diners, i take a 5 minute drive "over the hill" from hollywood and settle in here for an omelet or oatmeal etc. you will not be pleasantly surprised or disappointed if you go here. but you will like it just fine.

Hurray, a new breakfast place for us. I didn't get a superfriendly vibe when we first walked in, but that was just from the host. It was early, maybe he hadn't had his coffee yet...but the service after that was very attentive. We went for Sunday breakfast and were there before 8am, so it was empty. This place is bigger than it looks from the street, but I can imagine after 10 it fills up quickly. I had an omlette with bacon, spinach and sour cream, side of tomatoes and toast. Hubby had salami and eggs. Orange juice and coffee too that were very good. Total bill was $27. Not IHOP prices, but much better quality. Will be back. Breakfast and lunch only.

Came here on a Saturday morning, around 11:00am. The lot is super tiny, good luck finding parking, especially since there's multiple shops in the mini plaza and another Mexican restaurant. There was about a ten minute wait for my friend and I. Yeah, they have tons of pictures and autographs from celebs, I was thinking this place was gonna be like a Pink's...hyped up, gross food. But the food wasn't too bad. I had a chicken tarragon omelette and my friend had a steak fajita omelette. The food was pretty good, service was decent. It was pretty lively and crowded in there, too bad they didn't have any hot sauce besides tabasco, not a huge fan of it. I was hoping they'd have something like Eggs Florentine, Eggs Blackstone, or Eggs Benedict, but unfortunately they didn't have anything like that.

my office is about a block away from the good neighbor so i eat there at least a few times a month. being a vegetarian, i can't comment on the majority of the menu, but i will say the food i've had there is really good. i especially enjoy a new-ish addition, the soy chorizo breakfast burrito. in addition to the good food though, the people who run the place are super friendly and always make you feel welcome. also, one of the guys who works there can often be seen wearing a pretty cool ghostbusters t-shirt. i always walk there, but the parking lot looks like a nightmare. i'd go for street meter parking if you want to decrease your chances of a door ding or scrape.

I love this place. Yes the walls are covered with autographs of people you never knew were once famous - but whatever - its LA. I love this place so much I come here for lunch almost every day and come back to the office needing a nice long nap wondering why I ate so much. The Good Neighbor was deceiving in the sense that the establishment looks cool, the food looks good and the service is good. It's spacious, well lit and busy. The food looks good, but that's all. It just looks good. The coffee is the worst coffee I ever had. It was weak, bland and no amounts of sugar could make it any better. I ordered the vegetarian omelete that had zucchini, mushrooms, carrots, and onions with a side of fruit. I was so excited when it came out. It looked beautiful, like a page out of fine dining magazine. My boyfriend ordered eggs benedict with spinach, and an onion bagel with butter. The food was COLD. When a restaurant serves you cold eggs and thinks that's okay, you know you have a problem. I would never recommend this place to a single soul. It seriously sucks. Terrible coffee, stupid service, cold eggs. Not something you want to deal with when you are trying to cure the holy hangover from hell. Of course this means I will never go there again, and I'm pretty sure my boyfriend won't either. A little tid bit- if you don't live neighborhood, parking sucks. The place is located in a small plaza and has barely any parking.

I found this restaurant shortly after moving to the area and absolutely love it. I may be somewhat biased because it is walking distance from my house, but the breakfasts here are delicious and served quickly, and the prices are great. It's the kind of place you wouldn't expect to find in a LA, aside from the wall of head shots. We flew into LAX on Tuesday and wanted to find a place to have lunch since we pretty much missed breakfast. Not knowing the area, I had no idea where to go, I only knew I did not want fast food, or a lame chain restaurant which we have plenty of in my neck of the woods. So thanks to getting lost, and going on wild goose chases thanks to our outdated GPS Garmin, we ended up here. It looked like a neighborhood diner, and I am always willing to give a family type diner a try. And good thing we did, it was very nice, the little round fried potatoes that came with breakfast were crispy, the eggs and sausage I got were good, nice waitress, good experience. I would come here again if I was in the area.

I feel bad that I have not written a review before because I just LOVE this place. They have been in business for over 40 years and I have been going to them for at least the last 16. They are breakfast and lunch only. The food is good and there are lots of options. Whatever I get, I make sure to get the cottage fries. So good and not at all greasy. They also do wine, mimosas and beer if you are the kind that needs to take the edge off at breakfast. Oh and I love their coffee (which they also serve in the recent addition of an attached coffee shop "Good Neighbarista"). The food is good but I have to tell you that is NOT why I continue to bring them my business. The owners are the nicest people. And they are always there. It is THEIR business and they treat it as such. Many of their staff members have been there forever too. And if you know anything about working in restaurants, you know that means they treat their employees well. I have definitely had the occasional star sighting there and it is is the kind of place that respects the stars privacy and none of the staff or customers bother them. The walls are lined with Hollywood head shots from past eras. It's altogether a charming place to spend your morning. If you are in town for just a little while or are one of those people who live here and haven't had the chance to try them yet, please stop by. Occasionally there is a little wait, but never too long. It is worth your time. Please support this local business. You will be glad you did.

Great prices and great food. I found this gem right here on Yelp! Wanted to find a great place for breakfast while on our trip to Universal Studios, so I got on Yelp and started searching. The Good Neighbor restaurant is only a few minutes drive from the Universal Sheraton Hotel. The staff is extremely nice and helpful and everything we ate was delicious. The place is small but we were there early before any crowds. The parking lot is small also, but some street parking is available. Many celebrities have visited here and they have their pictures hanging on the walls. I will definitely return here again when in the area.

Old school type of restaurant/diner. Very clean and cozy. Excellent customer service. It's run by a super friendly family; the hostess is a doll, the fella who welcomes you is super cool too (I believe they're the owners). Our waiter and busboy were very nice and efficient as well. I recommend their buttermilk pancakes which are made with perfection. Very yummy and big, as they're very generous with their portions. When you leave the restaurant the hosts make sure to smile and say "thank you" which is a nice touch. Nowadays we see so many rude and unhappy employees who can't wait to toss us out of their restaurants as fast as they can (after they take our money, of course), but at GNR the staff go above and beyond to please their clientele. Highly recommended, it's a place with very good, positive vibe. Thank you!

Good food, good atmosphere, good people. But this isn't papa johns, it's good neighbor. There was a variety of definite locals and regulars here which made me feel oddly at home since it was my first time. I ordered a cup of coffee, which was filled constantly, and I ordered the Strawberry pancakes, fluffy, but were only ok because it was soggy and I kinda wished there were some in top. There was the right amount of staff - if there can be such a thing - because everyone had food or drink or conversation in hand. If my wife and I lived closer we'd make this a weekly adventure. enjoy!

I've been walking to the Good Neighbor Cafe for about a year now. It's become my weekend breakfast spot. I usually get the breakfast combo with pancakes or French toast depending on my mood. Occasionally I'll order an omelet or sandwich but tend to stick to the combo. They usually have a 5-10 min wait. So I'll go and get a coffee from their new add on. This place is always consistent and always delicious. I haven't had one bad meal and the service is always excellent.

Just got back from this place after having a trip over for midday breakfast food. It was really busy and there was a que therefore we were waiting about 15 minutes to be seated. It's a decent sized place, with a cosy feel but just a standard type of diner. The service people were polite and friendly which is always nice. Both of us ordered the combination breakfast with French toast, sausage and eggs. It arrived between 10-15 minutes later which was quite reasonable considering how busy they were. $20 for 2 people isn't that cheap for the amount of food you get but is probably average for this place, LA. Everything is overpriced in this city and this decent little spot is no different. Anyway I left feeling slightly hungry still but the food was nothing special, just standard diner food, not greasy and the eggs were done nicely. Overall, nice environment good menu selection but wouldn't rush back here going by the food I had today. On the plus side nothing was bad or terrible haha.

Good neighborhood breakfast spot but they don't have real maple syrup. Instead they serve up pancake syrup which is CORN SYRUP crap. Yuck. Can't believe people give this junk to their kids. I've been in here a few times over the last year and each time I've suggested to the owners that they at least have real maple syrup as an option for customers who will pay extra for it (would it kill them to buy a jug of it to keep in the back) and so far they haven't seemed to care. Too bad because I would make this my neighborhood breakfast place. Other than this issue it's an cute place with good service and eggs, etc.

Lets put canned diced tomatoes, overcooked spinach n cold mushrooms, green peppers n onions (definitely straight from freezer bag) and slap them on top of an egg n fold it over for an omelette. Lol the "cottage fries" are half thawed potatoes from the freezer. I'd like my $15 back. Good Neighbor is the best breakfast restaurants in the valley. I have been eating here for over 30 years and I can tell you that the service is always great, the people are friendly, the food is always good, they keep the place clean, the price is reasonable. Mediocre. Sat down at 2pm and ordered a drink. A runner brought that out soon. However I sat there for another 15 mins before anyone came by to see if I wanted to order. I said that I did, so he went to grab an server. It's now 2:20 and I finally placed my order (tri tip= bland and fatty). The only positive I can say that the food came out really fast. But then again there was only 4 other tables. The food was mediocre. Not to mention it had 2 strands of hair that was not mine. The server never came back to check on me at all. The runner eventually came back with a refill. Mediocre food. Mediocre service. Decent price.

The food was disgusting and the service was terrible. The Bistro Breakfast Sandwich tasted like airline food, as did the scrambled eggs that came with the breakfast combination. The "cottage fries" were dry and chewy and the peppers and onions that came with them were burnt. It was clear that they were not cooked together, and the potatoes were not fresh. The french toast was dry and obviously not fresh either. Looking at the "kitchen," it's clear why this is the case. They have several freezers and a very small food preparation area, so most of the food is just frozen food that has been heated up. If I wanted to eat disgusting frozen food I would have gone to the grocery store at a fraction of the cost. When I go to a restaurant I expect fresh ingredients prepared well. On top of that, the service was terrible. The waitress came to our table twice: once to take our order, and once to drop off our food. We needed more napkins, we ran out of our ordered beverages and drank all of our water, and at no point were we asked how our food was. When we had finished we put our napkins on our plates to indicate that we were ready for the bill, and after 10 minutes of being ignored we went up to the register and when asked for our check we told them we had been waiting and had not received it, but that we needed to go. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a decent meal. There are several better options in the area, such as Studio City Cafe on Colfax and Ventura, Crave Cafe or Dupars on Ventura east of Laurel Canyon, or Aroma Cafe on Tujunga.

Serves breakfast 'til 3 pm everyday; how very civilized! Staff were friendly and polite. They were busy on this Monday morning and kindly apologized for a relatively short wait. Food had a wide selection with good basic attention to detail (cottage cheese side had paprika sprinkles; hot tea had a real teapot with selection of teas, etc). We told the wait staff, and they did everything possible to accelerate our dining experience in a comfortable, efficient manner. When our waiter went on break, he specifically came to the table to let us know, thus ensuring a smooth transition. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. It was filling, non-greasy, and flavorful. It is also a short distance away from another delightful family-owned restaurant, Miceli's Italian. Go to this place for breakfast and/or lunch, then go see Hollywood, and come back to the area for dinner at Miceli's. Prepare to be amazed by what family-owned restaurants can do. One of my favorite breakfast spots in the Valley. I used to work at the Universal NBC tower so was constantly ordering their food for the office. I went here recently and the food was okay. Maybe because it was the weekend. But I was happy to see that the place was still managed by the family. Customer service is still great. When I went recently, there wasn't a wait. Used to wait 30 mins on the weekend. My favorite are the omlettes with cottage fries. For lunch I would order the BLTs and the Tuna Melts. Yumm! Parking is difficult so get there early to get a spot or just park on the street.

I came here for breakfast before heading over to the Warner Bros studio for the taping of the Voice finale. First off, the parking lot here is tiny and difficult to navigate. As for the decor, it's very laid back and simple. I enjoyed all the black and white photos and tributes to the old hollywood films. This place is like one big homage to icons like James Dean and Marilyn Monroe. As for the food, my sister ordered the chocolate pancakes with sausage and eggs. The pancakes were so-so and not as rich as I was expecting it to be. Also, I ordered the burger with fries and it was decent. Essentially, nothing blew my mind away but it did fill me up well. Overall, friendly service, and okay food. There is nothing super special about this place that would make me want to return to it.

This was my first time eating at Good Neighbor, and it will probably be my last. Nothing too bad, but it was all mehhhh... nothing outstanding. I had scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, toast, and "cottage fries" (breakfast potatoes). The quality of the food and service were no better and occasionally somewhat worse than a regular chain restaurant. It was ok. There's not much you can do to mess up eggs, sausage, and toast. But the breakfast potatoes were particularly disappointing. They were dry and bland, mixed with tiny pieces of cooked onion and peppers that were also dry and nearly flavorless. My first cup of coffee came quickly, but refills were infrequent and I had to wave in servers. My table had only sugar and saccharin. I had to hunt the restaurant for Splenda. The check was delivered without asking me if I wanted something else. The room is very nice, in an old-school Hollywood way. That's because Good Neighbor has been in business for over 40 years. But old-school ambiance hardly makes up for spotty service and mediocre food. Staff at the register are very friendly. Breakfast for 2 people with coffee is about $25 before tax and tip. Nothing special here.

The staff is super friendly and greet you when you arrive and when you leave. Very quick on drinks and refills and your cup is never empty. I was happy with the place but I feel the food wasn't something that I would want to come back for. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't as good as other breakfast/brunch places. I do like that everything is made a bit healthier. Nothing was oily or greasy. The food was a tad bland but nothing salt and pepper couldn't fix. I think people are used to the taste of unhealthy food and don't realize the blandness is actually because it's a little more on the healthier side. That's just my opinion and I could be totally wrong. It would be nice though if they could just put a little more flavor into there dishes. Other than that, it was an enjoyable experience. FYI: the parking does suck. I have a compact car and I barely fit into the space. It's pretty much meant for smart cars. But like people said, their is still plenty of street parking.

It was our first time here at the Neighborhood Restaurant it had a cozy feeling to the place the parking lot was small and only 1 handicap space for the 4 business's. Was staying at the Hilton. I'm not a fan of hotel food or buffets so, found this close by. The staff was very friendly and even though the place was very busy, the service was prompt. OK, so I am not a fan of diner food - really - and I was disappointed when I heard that I was not going to meet my BF and Maryann P. at Miceli's across the way, as originally planned, but, but, BUT they have really, really ridiculously great service and the man at the register is very, very, very friendly and attentive! When we had finished our food they noticed we were going to stay a bit since we were chatting and they made sure we had water refills! Very nice!!!! I ordered a cheeseburger which included fries and a small coleslaw. It was just $8 AND they ask you how you want it cooked!!!! Wow! The burger was really good and even better when I put some Grey Poupon mustard on it! Yes, they have French's mustard's snooty french cousin here haha! The fries were ok. They serve those crinkly fries that remind you of frozen fries here. I don't really like the decor. They have cartoon "neighbors" painted on the outside wall and have tons of pictures of movie stars on the walls inside plus more cartoons. Parking is a big problem and getting out is even more hellish. I was very, very lucky to find a spot quick. Funny, the reason my BF and Maryann P. picked this place was because Miceli's has far worse parking issues!
Friendly and fast service, big portions, great food, and a welcome break from the Hilton prices :) The parking was tight, but that's to be expected. Did not find anything to complain about, and would definitely visit again!

I was always curious to come here because every morning I would drive by and Once I did I was extremely Disappointed. So I came here on a Saturday morning because My car was getting Maintenance at the Nissan dealership up the Street. So I walked here with my Family and Once we walked in we got sat quickly but the Host looked like they had just woken up and he sat us by the Window w/ the sun unpleasantly beaming down my face, we Ordered coffee which was really watery and not charged at all. We then order the food and we all got the Traditional breakfast and Waited what felt like forever to get the food, only to have these stale Potato fries and the eggs were runny and the toast was dryer than the Mohave Desert! Suffice to say that I will never come back here it just wasn't worth it to have a crappy Breakfast. 40 years old this year, I was informed. I had bookmarked this place for awhile, and it was nice to finally come here. Reminiscent of the dear departed Silver Spoon, and yet GNR is its own place. The Denver Omlette (sort of my yardstick) was good --- if not as hearty as, say, Silver Spoon. It's also a bit cheaper, so maybe you get what you pay for. However, if you want to add some real pep and ask for their homemade salsa, you will begin to make up the difference. While I liked the salsa, it's too much of a bowl for even someone like I who slathers my dish with it. At $1.75 extra, I'd suggest make the portion half the size and charge a buck. The ham in the Denver is minced, and at first not all that meaty. I like the quality of the ham --- but I think I'd like more of the ham, peppers, and onions. The onion, in fact, were almost impossible to locate. Fruit is an extra buck if you choose that over their 'cottage' fries (really just FF with onion/peppers atop), or tomatoes. The toast was fine, but special mention goes to the jellies. Either grape or strawberry, and they were both good. I like the presences of the berry in the strawberry jelly. The coffee is perfectly decent diner coffee -- certainly better that say, DuPar's. Good clean bathrooms; pleasant music; helpful service. Nice environment where you might see a bunch of musicians and/or engineers. Fun alternative to the surrounding venues. Parking lot is the big challenge. Keep your fingers crossed! But it's worth, so I'll not worrying too much about that.

The food is good, not great and it isn't necessarily a place that I'd seek out but when I'm in the neighborhood, it's a nice, comfortable place to sit down and have a meal. OK - there are no Biscuits & Gravy here - Just eggs - plain style eggs. In fact, we said to each other, this is no special place, just breakfast - an OK breakfast .. but simple ... the kind of breakfast you could make at home.. Lots of photos on the walls.. We saw one that said "best breakfast ever" from some unknown actress and thought to ourselves "what restaurant was she eating in..." We give this restaurant 2 stars .. just cause it is that a 2 star breakfast ... nothing great and nothing bad just plain ..

Went here for breakfast today, the parking took a while to find, and the wait was about 20 minutes. The food was good, not amazing or anything. But nothing to complain about. i had the tri tip omelet, with potatoes and toast. The tri tip was good, well cooked. The place was packed, and the ambiance was good.

A friend and I have been coming here every Thursday for years and they have never missed the mark. Okay, so they have a small parking lot, but it's not their fault the food is so good that it draws a crowd. The fact that the place is always full after being in business after so many years speaks volumes. I usually order the Denver omelet with pepper jack and a side of roasted Jalapenos and it consistently hits on every cylinder. Last week I ordered a pastrami/Reuben and the darn thing coated my insides like a baby blanket for almost the entire day. We also enjoy the company of Shauna, who is one of the best waitresses around. She endures my friends lack of social graces, which is not easy, and is quick to put him in his place if need be... Suffice to say she is great, as is the entire staff (although there is one tired eyed floater who drifts around, but I am never sure if he is an employee or not, heh, heh). All in all, if there is anything bad about this place, it's that they don't serve biscuits and gravy... If they ever do, I'll probably move in.

Service is horrible. The server took our orders after 15 mins we're seated. Worse, food came out about 30 minutes later. We came with great expectation for this place but were extremely disappointed. The patron next to us waited for their food, eat and left the restaurant but our food hasn't showed up. Food is good but it's not worth of a trip, especially if you go with hungry tummy.

I've been here quite a few times. Friendly staff and I think the owners (older gentleman and lady) are super nice and always looking sharp! Very welcoming... Had the Chicken Fajita Omelette here for $9.45. the omelete has three eggs, chicken breast, bell peppers, onions, and Moneterey jack cheese. This comes with toast and jam with your selection of a side. I also got fresh fruit for a dollar extra. Everything was good and fresh. I'm happy that I finally got to eat at this place after many years of living in the area. The staff was great and service was fast. Loved the fact that they have the LA Times paper for you to read while eating or waiting on food. You should park on the street to avoid the small parking lot and def check this place out.

Breakfast restaurants serving a great breakfast are hard to come by, for years Mo's in Toluca Lake served a tasty mix of everything one could want but those days are gone, no more are they open early morning during the week so we stumbled in to this Breakfast Restaurant...everything was completely bland, eggs had no flavor, grilled chicken was dry and flavorless and "cottage fries" would work in a rest home, come to think of it that was what the food tasted like it was prepared for...no thanks!

We loved this homey-feel diner where you can get a classic breakfast that is fresh and not greasy! Staying at the Sheraton Universal, we found this place on Yelp while on vacation in LA. We both had omelettes that were prepared perfectly, loved the onions they use! Their hash brown potatoes with peppers and onions were delicious, and a fresh strawberry jam with the toast topped it all off! LOVE EVERYTHING! This place reminds me of living in the Midwest. Everyone that works there smiles at you, talks to you like you are best friends, and treats you very well. The menu is huge; it has so many yummy things to choose from. The atmosphere is inviting and comfortable. My new favorite place for blueberry pancakes and build-your-own omelets. Stayed at the Hilton and wanted a cafe kind of breakfast. I was pleasantly surprised to find the good neighbor restaurant so close. It's got great food and seems to be mom and pop owned kind of place. It's the perfect mesh of old school meets new school. They have old school favorites and then great new choices like smoothies, mimosas and iced lattes. Delicious. Wish there was a place like this where I was from. On vacation and tired of Denny's, hotel staff recommended this place. Good food. Lighter flavor, the flavor is not as sharp as like a Denny's but goes down smooth. Will eat there again. Oh, and they have a real cafe connected so you can order lattes or espresso with your breakfast :)

I'm surprised I haven't written about Good Neighbor. LOVE this place! Is it a "fine dining" experience? No. Is the food good? Absolutely!! This is a family owned eatery... the service could not be better. You smile from the minute you walk in. Everyone from the owners who greet you at the door to the bus boys & girls... they all are so friendly. I love their soups, sandwiches and the best... the Patty Melt. Yum!! I HEART this restaurant. This is my boyfriend and I's go-to for breakfast/lunch every weekend. Good Neighbor is family owned & operated for 37 years - the husband/wife team is there every weekend. Everyone is super friendly, they chat with us and even remember our orders. What I love: -Omelettes are perfection and delicious, I like to make my own but the ham is cheese is great for hangovers -Potatoes are not greasy at all and I get them plain without the onions -Turkey salad are made fresh daily and it has celery and a touch of raisins -Options of soy chorizo and sausage -Mimosas! -Celebrity sightings They are open from 7am-3pm and serve breakfast and lunch all day. Was at Universal Studios area looking for a breakfast place and after seeing the great reviews on yelp we decided to bring a hungry group here. I called ahead and they got us seated right away on a busy Saturday morning. The staff was extremely friendly and felt like a family running the business. Most of us ordered a breakfast special which is only $8.75 for pancakes or french toast, saugage or bacon, and eggs & toast. The menu is full of great choices and everything we ordered was so delicious. I will definitely be back whenever I am in the area. No complaints from anyone in our group of 7 people.

Law enforcement loves the Good Neighbor! Seriously - every morning I drive by, I see several squad cars parked outside. This tells you 2 things: It's delicious and it's safe. My favorite here is the chicken salad sandwich - the raisins give it just the right amount of sweetness. Everything else is pretty good - my coworkers are big fans of the home fries. Breakfast is served all day, too. Service is always warm and friendly -- plus they're willing to hand out individual bills, so that coming with a large party isn't too much of a pain. Lot parking, street parking available, though it gets crowded!

I came here with my BF one morning looking for a nice breakfast but unfortunately we did not find it. The ambiance was nice and the servers are friendly, but the food was a little lacking for us. I had pancakes, bacon, and eggs. The bacon and eggs were fine, but the pancakes were chewy and not very good. My BF had an omelet with a side of potatoes. The omelet was OK but his potatoes looked like something out of the freezer section of the grocery store. I don't think we will be back.

Came here for breakfast because when I did a yelp search this came up. My friend likes old school places so we ended up here. Boy, was it a mistake! The breakfast was so ordinary, so boring, so....... *sigh* uninspiring that neither of us was terribly interested in finishing it, but we did because we were hungry. Service was really so-so, unmemorable and when you put that together with the meal, it really made me wonder how it got such a high rating on here. My friend ordered a glass of milk and was asked small or large... omg the small was like a kiddie cup's worth. We actually cracked up when it was brought to the table. Mindboggling to say the least! Our breakfast was so mediocre -- the pancakes were mushy in texture, sausages were teenie, really disappointing! The only 'exciting' moment was when this woman came in and sat down and I recognized her as being one of the SNL cast members. I couldn't remember her name at the time, but after googling I'm sure she was Cheri Oteri.

This is such an "it" spot for breakfast and brunch in Studio City; took a stroll into the Good Neighbor Restaurant this past weekend for a late breakfast and was pleasantly surprised at the quick service and delicious food. We weren't expecting there to be a wait, but it moved fairly quickly and all things considered for a Sunday Brunch, we were seated promptly. Immediately after being seated, the waiters were on us about food, drinks and the like - and our food was brought back out in record time. Great little restaurant to eat at for breakfast. I work right down the street so it's convenient for me. The parking lot is extremely limited for spaces so you might want to look around for parking outside of it. Once you walk in, you'll notice many portraits (signed) by music artists, celebrities and singers. It's actually quite interesting and the food is actually pretty good. However, beware that it can be a pricey breakfast as well. $2.75 for a SMALL OJ might be a bit too much, but what can I say? It is where the rich folks and celebrities eat. lol.

We wanted to try a new breakfast spot in the area and found this one on Yelp. Wasn't really impressed. We didn't dislike it but we are not fans. I had the Honey Wheat pancakes (very good and fluffy) with eggs and bacon special and the bf had a chorizo burrito (which was all egg with very little chorizo) and a handful of fried potatoes. Not really good OJ (kind of tart) and I wasn't a fan of the coffee (it should make you sing lol). Nice restaurant, full of light, very clean and reasonably priced. Service was a little slow, even though we were there at peak time, we had to keep looking for our waitress for service. I won't be going back. Not because we had a bad experience...it was great but the food didn't speak to me LOL. It's got to draw you back right??

I only come here when I have someone with me that likes to eat breakfast as much as I do! They do have a good breakfast menu! I ordered the polish sausage with sunny side up eggs. I could have had the potatoes but I ordered the sliced tomatoes to make myself feel like I'm watching my carb intake! Coffee is average and the tables are small and crammed together. The food makes up for it. The service was professional and prompt. I didn't want to go all the way to a 5-star but they are a solid 4! If you like breakfast, then you'll like this place. Parking in the lot is a task but I usually will go on a Saturday morning when the other businesses are closed and parking is a bit more available.

Yummy! This may be one of our favorite breakfast places in L.A. The downside is the parking, the lot is small and the street parking is metered. On a Sunday morning there can often be a line, but we generally don't wait more than 10 minutes. The breakfasts are tasty! My husband often gets their omelet specials. I've had their breakfast burrito, breakfast sandwich, french toast, eggs, etc. Never a bad meal and always decent service. The restaurant appears to be run by a family that is hardworking and I really respect that!

Choices, Choices and Choices. That's one of the things you'll get at Good Neighbor Restaurant. I got the fajita omelette with potatoes. The potatoes were nice and cripsy and delicious. The steak was not as great as I'd hoped it would be, but it was good enough for me to chow down on. The fruit plate was extremely fresh and looked very good coming out. The menu was huge and I wanted to find something else to try next time I come. There's really not much else to say, but I did have a good experience here and there was a good vibe to the whole restaurant, even if me and my friend were the only ones under 40 that were there.

I checked this place out for lunch and was very impressed. -Selection: Very good with a number of vegetarian options. The main items are sandwiches, pitas, burgers. salads (which are more expensive than the other items), and breakfast. If you order a sandwich and burger (I believe) they have a variety of sides that you can choose from. I ordered the avocado & swiss pita... yum!!! -Food: Delicious, fresh, and was served in good timing -Prices: Fair -Restaurant: Small with lots of windows up front and somewhat dark in the back. If you are looking for a great hole in the wall breakfast joint where "everybody knows your name," Good Neighbor is the place to go! They have great brunch and low prices! When you walk in the owners great you and they remember your face! It's my staple breakfast place for the weekend. My fiance really likes the Hollywood Sandwich... it's "different." I LOVE the tomato bisque soup. The cobb salad is great. When you have the choice, get the cottage fries! Also, try the ranch dressing, it's SO GOOD!

Just cruised around today looking for a breakfast spot before heading into Universal Studios and caught glimpse of the GNR. Looked like an average diner with a big space. Why not try it out when the name promotes community right off the bat. After perusing the menu and soaking in the cool Hollywood Headshots and steaming black coffee, I thought to have a little input from the server. Our server was cheerful and very friendly. I asked which is a better option: the Breakfast Special or Eggs ala Frisdale. She went with the Frisdale and I agreed. The poached were delicate and fresh on top of what I personally believed was a tad overcooked spinach on an english muffin. The muffin was great texture and flavor. I had asked to add avocado which is always necessary with Benedictesque dishes. The substitute hollandaise is a cheddar cheese sauce that lacked true cheese nature and could have been a little richer. However, the house potatoes were awesome. Fried little rounds that were not greasy and soggy. They were crisp and had a ton of flavor. All in all, for $8 I was really satisfied and saw that my mom was just as pleased with her tomato, bacon and swiss omelete. Overall great experience and really relaxed enviro. Check it out as your morning charge up while in NoHo or Universal City.

Busy...busy...busy. It's a cute little cafe near Universal City walk or Universal Studios and you just can't go wrong. There are tons of pictures of actors and producers that has eaten at the restuarant and I think we did see someone there that day. But it is packed. Parking can be a little difficult but there is an attendant there to help assist but you are better off parking in the streets than the little shopping area. I had the chicken friedn steak and eggs and it was gooooood!!!! My girl had an omelete and it was tasty. I would definitely recommend it to all. It's fun and the owners really know their customers which shows how great they are.

This place is just about as A-OK as you can get. Not incredible, but just OK. Service is always stellar, but the food is pretty average. The parking lot is always atrocious however, but not their fault. I say if you want some decent diner food and you're in the area... go for it.

The Good Neighbor Restaurant is a fitting name for this establishment, because the waitstaff really exude all the characteristics of a good neighbor. My waitress had a smile every time she checked on us, and I couldn't help but feel at home the whole time. My favorite meal to eat at diners is breakfast, so I had the egg white vegetable omelet with wheat toast and a side of cottage cheese. The portions are huge, and the filling in my omelet was generous. If you love bacon, you should order it here. I don't know how they do it but the bacon looks so photogenic, 'Food Network' status! Perfectly crispy. Menu-wise you would find a lot of the staples of any other diner, so don't expect to order your "Tomato-less Bloody Mary Breakfast Hamburger Extravaganza" here. If you like old-fashioned diners and good old-fashioned service, why not take a chance here? You may be pleasantly surprised.

It is sad to give a 3 star review for this restaurant because everyone seemed to be very nice there, except our waitress. Maybe she was having a bad morning, but it made our experience not so good. We were seated very promptly when we got there, and got our drinks right away. But it took the waitress a long time to get to us and take our order on a mellow morning. The bus boy (man) was alot more helpful than she was... however I don't think he gets the tip that we left... therefore I didn't leave a very big tip. Now it's time to talk about the food. It was really good, I definitely can't make food of that quality at home. I think it's worth coming back again for the breakfast.

This place has been here since 1972, and I remember passing by it on my way home from school on the bus. We finally decided to stop and try it. I was a little concern when we were seated right away. No waiting on a Sunday? But then again, it was after 2:00 pm. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The place had a nice warm feel to it. I had the Good Neighbor Cheeseburger with bacon and added avocado. It came with fries. The rest of the family had breakfast. Tina had a Denver omelet. Christina had the chicken fajita omelet. And Austin had a 1/2 order of french toast. We we served with about 15 minutes after ordering. My cheeseburger was really good and came with a small serving of cole slaw. Everyone really enjoyed their meal. Surprisingly, Austin almost finished his french toast. No to go containers on this trip. I know we'll be back again.

I don't know how this place has 4 stars, 256 reviews on yelp? Any one with a taste bud wouldn't give this place more than 2 stars. Let's start with the positives...the location is great, I actually live next door to this place and have been meaning to check it out since I moved in, the interior of the restaurant seems clean, cozy and gives you that "cute neighborhood" restaurant feel. The negatives...the food taste like cafeteria food and seems overpriced for the quality. I ordered 2 eggs and turkey sausage which came with a side of potatoes and wheat toast. The eggs and sausage was okay (it's hard to mess that up), but the bread tasted like paper, the quality of bread they use is extremely low grade, its the worst slice bread I've ever had...the potatoes which I thought was house made is pre-packaged potatoes that seemed like they have been refried over and over, not to mention nothing on my plate had any salt or seasoning what so ever. I've never been to prison, but I imagine that's what prison food taste like...paper! At the end of the day my meal was $16 which seemed way overpriced considering there are better options around the area that cost less. I definitely won't be returning.

I enjoy watching Food Network in particular Triple D, I drive past this place daily on my way to work and haven't paid attention otherwise I would have been here a long time ago. Place is nestled in a small shopping center so if you can find parking on the street do it. Found this place on Yelp, liked the reviews and decided to pay them a visit. The minute we stepped in we felt like we were home at moms for breakfast, we were greeted by a lovely lady, whom we think is the owner, and informed us the wait would be around 15 minutes. We sat down for a brief moment and our names were called, the staff is extremely friendly and fast. I ordered create your own omelet with chorizo and it was amazing! we also ordered their honey wheat pancakes and those too were amazing! they were so big that my friend and I ended up sharing them. I am in search for the best breakfast burrito and my research has led me here for the best breakfast burrito Studio City has to offer. They caught my attention by adding tri-tip to their breakfast burrito. Sounds great on paper but when I took a bite the meat did not have much flavor. The pico de gallo did not help because that also lacked flavor. They did pack it with lots of cheese so that's a plus. My friend's chorizo breakfast burrito was seasoned much better. The best thing to come out of the meal though were the cottage fries. Well seasoned and crispy, but fries do not make a meal satisfactory. To my disappointment this breakfast adventure did not start out with a bang. Hopefully the next place will fare better.

Pros: Nice breakfast place. Friendly, family style atmosphere. Reasonable prices. Fine food. Cons: Be ready for a very long wait. For a party of 4, a "few minutes" wait turned into a 1/2 hour. Also the parking is a real big problem. They have a super small lot with super tight parking spaces. Very limited street parking available. On my order, there were 5 small slivers of green pepper and 7 small cubes of onions, and only 1-2 fries were topped with this small portion. None of the fries were seasoned either. I ordered "eggs only," which comes with cottage fries and toast. Not much you can do with scrambled eggs, but they weren't seasoned at all. The strawberry jam for the toast is homemade, and very tasty, although the strawberry chunks are too big to spread. The menu had the feel of an old school café, but without anything original. The food was decent, the service was great (although the waitress kept calling me "sweetie"), the environment in the restaurant was very comfortable, and the prices were fine.

Once I get every time I come back to Los Angeles this is one of the places I have to eat at and have their chicken tarragon omlet. I'm back in town for a photo shoot. This is a really good brunch spot on Cahuenga right near Universal. Their cottage fries (as other reviews have mentioned) are delicious, and their menu has plentiful options of omelets, breakfast specials, sandwiches, salads, the like...totally hits that sweet spot of home cooked food. They do close at 3pm, so keep that in mind when visiting!

Regular old diner food at best. Not bad, but not really good either. I had the corned beef and hash with the cottage fries. The hash tasted like everyone else's...probably straight from the can, nothing homemade about it. The cottage fries were ok, not worth the praise other have given them, but the onions and peppers that topped them off tasted dull watery and were probably frozen. My girlfriend had the spinach tomato and mushroom omelette. The veggies were fresh enough but unseasoned, and the eggs were obviously from a carton, again pretty bland and unseasoned. The place was crowded for a Monday at lunch time. About 1230pm. The service was good, attentive without interrupting too much. The food came out in a timely manner and all requests were handled very quickly. Overall, this place would be an expected experience in a small town middle of nowhere, but doesn't stand up to the numerous great places in studio city.

We were in town for a wedding at the Sheraton and needed a quick brekkie before starting the day. Hubby found this place a la yelp and we were very pleased with the friendliness of the staff and our breakfast. Hubby had his usual eggs benny and I had the croissant sandwich. Coffee was never empty. Great service! Parking is the only bummer. The spots are very limited and tight in the lot but there seems to be ample space on the main street and around the corner towards the residential area.

I came here today for the first time and really enjoyed myself. The owners at the front were super nice and treated me as if I'd been a regular. I really felt at home almost immediately and it made me wish I lived closer so I could eat there every day! We got in there around noon on a Sunday and had to wait about 15-20 minutes for a table. No big. The table was tiny, but once we were settled in, it wasn't so bad. A little cramped, but the wait would have been even longer if they didn't try to fit that cute little table in there... Plus, the wait wasn't that bad because I was able to look around at all the walls where there are pictures of all the famous people who've eaten there. Really interesting! We ordered omelets. Mine was the spinach, mushroom and tomato, and his was some create-your-own deliciousness. Both were ordered with pepper jack cheese. AAAAAHMAZING. It's not gourmet by any means, but it is perfect for the little breakfast diner that it is. Oh, and we ordered salsa on one of the omelets and they forgot to put it on there, so the waiter brought it out a little late but still took it off the bill. *Thanks :)* However, the food was so good, we didn't even know it was missing! *Parking is awful. The parking lot gets crammed so if you can find a spot in the street, take it!

Great local eats when I used to work in the Universal City area as I can just walk there for lunch and not worry about parking as this is very popular amongst the locals. The best mediocre breakfast I've had (last week). Stopped here on the way to Malibu for some breakfast num numms. It wasn't bad, I didn't bother to look up any reviews before stopping here- my fault. I came here today for lunch with a friend who comes here all the time. I was kinda skeptical because I had only an hour for lunch but we were able to get in and out with plenty of time to kill The host and wait staff are very friendly. I tried the Good Neighbor Burger and added avocado, it came with fries and coleslaw. Everything was great, and very reasonably priced. I plan on coming here again so I can try their breakfast. Really nice, quant restaurant with framed celebrity pictures on the wall. I would say this place is perfect for any meal of the day. Definitely would recommend if you live in the area and haven't tried this place yet.

I was putting all my eggs in one basket for Good Neighbor Restaurant (pun intended, as it was breakfast); because it was my last solid meal at 7:30am the day of my wisdom tooth extraction surgery. Due to this, I needed a large, solid meal to keep me filled before the multiple days of post-surgery baby food/mashed diet (which really wreaks havoc on your stomach, in case you were wondering). I walked into the quintessential neighborhood breakfast dining experience. A pair of cops in the corner knoshing on pastries and coffee, an elderly couple eating eggs while reading the local paper, and a welcoming hostess whom allowed us to pick any table we wanted. Seating is ample with one large main room and a smaller side room. Similar to a Denny's but without the commercialized feel, the dining room is bright and airy. My last solid meal before saying buh-bye to my wisdom teeth forever consisted of fresh-squeezed orange juice and a plate of Eggs a la Frisdale ($8), while my boyfriend ordered a full-stack of Banana Pancakes with coffee. Made up of two large poached eggs on a large piece of Canadian bacon ham, sprawled on two English muffins covered in cheddar cheese sauce (versus the traditional hollandaise); and served with round potatoes similar to home fries with chunks of onions and green bell peppers; my plate was covered with a very large serving. The eggs were soft and perfectly poached, while the ham was thick enough for flavor but not too overwhelming. The english muffins were probably one of the best English muffins I've had (fresh bakery moistness) but unfortunately, the cheddar cheese sauce lacked a sharp flavor and I would have preferred the hollandaise and more of it. The potatoes were EXCELLENT, however. I'm not a fan of tater tots or hashbrowns so I welcomed these potatoes. Almost like flat fries, they were crisp on the outside, soft inside and perfectly golden. I topped it with Tapatio and ketchup and ate them all up. My boyfriend's full-stack (3) of Banana Pancakes were HUGE! It looked like large moons or planets of pancakes. The service was very fast and kind. It seemed like there was no set waitress and we were served/helped by anyone on duty walking by. Although that sounds chaotic, it actually implied a family-like atmosphere. Overall, I will always have Good Neighbor in my memory bank as my last breakfast grinded down by my now non-existent wisdom teeth but the food itself is a bit less memorable. Definitely better than a Denny's or Ihop or even the local Noho/Studio City diners, but not out-of-this world.

What's nice about this breakfast/lunch only restaurant is the feeling of community one gets here. It's a place that feels like Hollywood, with lots of head shots hanging on the walls, and plenty of pretty people, but it has a real courteous staff and warmth that prevents this from turning into plasticland. They serve good, solid food: omelettes, pancakes, burgers, freshly squeezed orange juice. The prices are moderate, and the service is efficient. About the only downside is the parking. This is a strange mini-mall, grafted onto a hilly street, and one has to make an awkward turn to get into the tightly packed parking area. You cannot easily park on the steeply ascending residential street behind the mall, nor can you swiftly park on fast moving Cahuenga with its speeding cars and freeway entrances. But once inside, this is a family-friendly place where everyone from older people to younger creative types can congregate and enjoy the food.

My sister lives down the street and all the times I've come here it is always a great experience. I've only come here during breakfast and it's been good every time. They have your traditional breakfast foods, i.e. omelettes, pancakes, french toast, etc...(their potatoes are so good by the way), can't really go wrong with any of that. Best bacon I've ever had NOT at Burning Man. Super thick and yet amazingly crispy. They must've fought the devil to get this recipe. The cheeseburger and fries were good just not "best ever" status. When you order an Arnold Palmer, they give you a carafe with about 3 servings in it, I liked that I didn't have to ask the waiter for another.

Ok what are the qualities of a good neighbor? 1) Friendly - yes, owners actually greet guests I think. Waitress was nice, avg 2) Fun- eh I don't know if a diner is ever "fun", but atmosphere was average, VERY busy on Saturdays and Holy Jesus with the obnoxious families 3) Reliable- good hours, easy to find location. 4) Keeps promises -food was decent, I had the French toast and egg, " breakfast combo". I LOVE THE GOOD NEIGHBOR RESTAURANT!!! I've been there many times for breakfast and lunch. The food is delicious and the service is very friendly and fast. I had heard about it for YEARS, but never went because there are about 200 restaurants between my home and The Good Neighbor. And, the parking is a little scarce. But, I finally decided to stop on my way home, from an audition in Hollywood. I was so glad I did. Now, I go there after every local audition and celebrate. We also go on weekends sometimes, too. The egg-white omelettes are fantastic, as well as all the breakfast items. And, they have cottage fries, which are yummy round waffle potatoes, with bell peppers and onions mixed in. I ask for no onions and they make them to-order for me. Their breakfast meats are also top-notch! For lunch, the Cahuenga Special is a great choice, if you want to sample a couple of things. It's a half-sandwich with a salad or soup. They also have great full sandwiches. They all come w a small cup of cole slaw and fries. The owners of the restaurant are always there and greeting you with a smile when you walk in the door. There are pictures of movie stars on the walls, which gives it that Hollywood- Studio City feel! Try it- you'll like it!

It's great food and a Good Neighborhood restaurant as I found out in person! Quick Story: Sitting next to us was a table of firemen from the fire department next door. During their meal, they got a call and high-tailed it out of there with their food half-eaten. The waiters didn't clear it and 20 minutes later they came back and finished! I found out from the waiter that the fire department cooks a few meals for the staff every year! I had the "special" scramble: Turkey sausage, mushrooms, peppers and cheese - awesome! They also offer their cottage fries as a side and those are quite good too. Jenny had the shrimp pita mini-sandwiches which she really enjoyed. It came with a home-made thousand island sauce which she raved about. The only reason I didn't give this place 5-stars was their coffee wasn't particularly good. It was drinkable but bitter. The service was ok but they were pretty busy and didn't refill coffee as much as they should have. Overall, it was fine. Good Neighbor is one of my favorite Valley breakfast joints!

Went there for brunch for the first time today. The place is nice - it's clean and everyone is really friendly. The food isn't as good as some other places I've been to, but it wasn't horrible. I was not a fan of their potatoes. They were more like round french fries with a few little bits of peppers and onions on top. If you are into diner type places check it out...but if you like real potatoes drive a bit up the street and check out the Magnolia Grill. It's more like a diner you'd find on the East coast.

I really enjoyed breakfast at the Good Neighbor Restaurant. Although they only serve the standard breakfast fare, it was a nice option outside of universal city walk. Prices are reasonable. We stayed at the Hilton and it is within walking distance from the hotel although you would have to walk under an overpass. Parking is in a small lot, but should be ok. There is also street parking. Husband and I had the pancake special and french toast special. The pancakes were huge and fluffy. Try the sausage, it was delicious.

I was happy that there was a parking lot so you didn't have to pay but my happiness ended there... The decor is all studio related with pics of celebrities who go there. the coffee was mediocre. Disclaimer: One of my Favorite places so take this review as you will. The Good Neighbor really should change their name to The Great Neighbor. The food is always fresh, well prepared and tasty. Though I have to confess that I almost always get the Hollywood on white toast I have had everything on the menu at least once. Everything worth ordering again. Some might say the food is simple. But simple done well is still very good food. The staff is always friendly and your drink will never be empty. On top of everything else that I love about this place, it is cheap! On a side note it has also been a great place for celebrity sightings. Never bothered any of them but like to know that even the wealthy actors and actresses in LA who can afford to go anywhere also appreciate The Good Neighbor.

So glad that my boss told me about this place! To-go order? 15 Minutes. Everything will be packaged up and ready for you to take. I've ordered for 3 and I've ordered for 6, both times the food has been ready in 15 minutes. This is a GREAT feature when you are picking up for your bosses around lunch and can't get to them before 12:30PM. Scrambles are delicious and very large. Can't do 5 stars because I've never eaten in, and I also had an unpleasant experience with the man who answered the phone when I tried to phone in my order last time...so much so that I didn't end up calling back, I just ordered from Jumpin' Java instead. Whenever I have called and a woman has taken my order, she's been very kind and a true delight. If Vivian's is packed down the street, and you want to actually eat a breakfast, not stop at Starbucks, give this place a shot, it won't disappoint. It's also cheaper than Jumpin' Java, so if you don't think your friends/family/children will appreciate the brie, sun-dried tomato and portobello mushroom omelette for 13 dollars (though they should) take them here instead.

Always fresh and consistent. One of my stable lunch Coffee shops. Even though it is near the studios you don't get the Hollywood types. My best is the vegetarian pita sandwich with lots of cabbage avocado and swisss cheese, always fresh and good portions. Excellent breakfast too. Love the pancakes and eggs Benedict. Service is always fast and friendly. Parking is sometimes a hassle but well worth it.

Ok, I'm gonna try to be succint. Went to 'Neighbor' because it was mentioned in a Yelp! email. We normally go to Jan's- that place is awesome!!! This place is just ok, however the prices are AMAZING. A full $7 less than Jans for an omelette. But as the old adage says, 'you get what you pay for'. My omelette was boring, tasteless and sitting in a puddle of spinach 'sweat'. Yuck! My boyfriend's brekky sammy with home fries (tasted pretty much like fries) looked pretty rad tho and he was happy because he "got full". (men are such simple creatures!) Things to note: VERY limited parking, NO substitutions (tough for a gluten-freer like me), the atmosphere and feng shui is great.

Good Neighbor is one of my and my hubby's fave sunday brunch spots. Breakfast is served all day. Service is sooooo friendly. Food is good. Our favorites are the strawberry pancakes and these breakfast potato slices that are baked. The wait can get pretty long though and the restaurant can get kinda crowded (especially sunday mornings). The parking lot is small so parking can be a pain as well. There's street parking but the spaces get filled pretty quickly.

After taking a look at a few possible yelper suggestions, we settled in at Good Neighbors. Great menu selections for both healthy and indulgent eating:-) I noticed that they have mimosas for $4.75 and bottles of champagne for 18. Not bad... I was going for weight watchers choices today, so I chose the Cahuenga special. It included a salad, cup of soup and a half sandwich. The chicken soup was delicious - homemade with chunks of celery, chicken, noodles and potatoes. I got the turkey sandwich and it was nice - multigrain bread, moist turkey. I think I spent about 6 weight watchers points for lunch and I was very happy with the meal. Service was great and very friendly people at the register as well. We'll definitely put this on our hollywood/burbank route!

Sunday breakfast with tip for 4 is under $40 and we get fancy coffee, OJ... well we plain just get too much. Great for weekend breakfast - kids love it (crayons & mints at the cash register). I love that it is family run - Mom & Pop are hosts, a few of their kids are wait staff... we only go maybe 10 times a year - but they always remember us. Perfect for breakfast or lunch (not open after 3pm)... Pancakes are nice, big but light - go for the banana pancakes! I love the build your own egg dishes - I almost always add the salsa which is more like pico de gallo - but it is HOT. Only bad things are a short wait if you go at brunch rush, and the parking can be a pain, if you are coming from the west - just grab the 1st spot on the street 1/2 between Lankershim and the next block.

A great place to see your favorite celebs just relaxing, eating brunch... but waaaaay overpriced in my opinion. Okay, not way overpriced - maybe a few dollars more than nescessary to spend on breakfast or lunch. Is it location costs or is it because celebs frequent it? Is it famous for being famous? Who knows. I recommend it to all the clients who request a breakfast place and it's saved my company's ass more than once by whipping up snazzy breakfast items that other areas don't tout. The Good Neighbor is a gem in an unsuspecting locale- a strip mall off Cahuenga (not quite over the hill). Its a husband/wife who run it. Great vibe. Great food, great service. I get the feeling a lot of more mature industry type people eat here. Lots of people reading or writing, or discussing life or the biz. My parent's and I come here for brunch every so often. What I like about this place is the familiarity. It feels like one of those old diners your grandpa used to take you too. A place where he used grab breakfast with his golf buddies before hitting the course. Offering standard breakfast and lunch options (eggs, pancakes, sandwiches and soups), the food is wholesome and hearty. Classic 'what your mom' makes you when you come home from college. The parking in the lot isn't great so you might want to try your luck on the street. The service is great and attentive. You almost feel like this place is in the midwest, not LA. This is my favorite coffee shop/diner. Family owned and run, small and cozy. The staff, super friendly. The food is nothing fancy. It's essentially carb-loaded comfort food, but man does it taste good!!! I love the chorizo and eggs, sauteed Turkey burger, and polish sausages. They have a few healthy alternatives ( egg whites, veggie burger, etc. ) They're only open from 7 am to 3pm and the parking can be difficult but I have to give it 5 stars simply because every time I go there I feel happy!!!

This is a great spot--one of those truly homey neighborhood family feeling kind of places. Not only that, but it's very reasonably priced. Keep in mind it's truly a breakfast/lunch only place and that it closes at 3 pm every day so don't go expecting to get a late night snack unless you've been out all night and you consider 6am "late". (That's when they open). They have a great pancake sandwich combo for around 5 dollars and don't let the price scare you--it's great. These are not the best pancakes in LA but they're VERY GOOD, better than most, and certainly worth the price. The house coffee is plain american style...not great, doesn't suck. The only tough thing is parking: there's a small lot that gets filled quickly and the street parking is limited to one hour on much of the block so read the signs carefully. I get the feeling that the people who work here have been here for years together...I plan on eating here for years.

I love this place. I moved to LA seven years ago and was brought there by a friend my first month in town. It's fast, and the food is pretty good. My coffee is always full and hot. The food comes quickly and the best part, doesn't cost more then it should. The only down side of the place is that parking is awful, rarely can I just show up and park, usually I have to drive around a bit. The food, price and service all make it worth the extra couple minutes though. Great for a quick breakfast or lunch.

I am surprised there hasn't been a review posted of this wonderful breakfast and lunch spot because it is so gosh darned delicious. For starters -- there is ALWAYS a wait, but it is worth it. Seems a husband and wife run the place, nestled in a strip mall on that unassuming strip of Ventura next to Pacifica radio. Never-ending coffee, wonderful side dishes, fantastic omelettes (I tried the special with a sausage omelette and the waitress suggested I try it scrambled up, delish!) They don't joke around too much-- portions are perfectly sized, but not too much so you're fuller than necessary. Great people watching, wonderful service, nothing to ever complain about. And if you do happen to have to wait, the wonderful store next door has some cool trinkets if you're into spiritual/funky stuff. Again, I remind you, be prepared to wait, but it's worth it!

old people and gays like diners, i don't know why and i'm not going to analyse it. this place is good. the food is not as good as silver spoon, but it's good enough. all the servers are nice and they are just as fast with the coffee refills here as they are at foxy's. when i get tired of my usual circuit of gay/old people diners, i take a 5 minute drive "over the hill" from hollywood and settle in here for an omelet or oatmeal etc. you will not be pleasantly surprised or disappointed if you go here. but you will like it just fine.

Hurray, a new breakfast place for us. I didn't get a superfriendly vibe when we first walked in, but that was just from the host. It was early, maybe he hadn't had his coffee yet...but the service after that was very attentive. We went for Sunday breakfast and were there before 8am, so it was empty. This place is bigger than it looks from the street, but I can imagine after 10 it fills up quickly. I had an omlette with bacon, spinach and sour cream, side of tomatoes and toast. Came here on a Saturday morning, around 11:00am. The lot is super tiny, good luck finding parking, especially since there's multiple shops in the mini plaza and another Mexican restaurant. There was about a ten minute wait for my friend and I. Yeah, they have tons of pictures and autographs from celebs, I was thinking this place was gonna be like a Pink's...hyped up, gross food. But the food wasn't too bad. I had a chicken tarragon omelette and my friend had a steak fajita omelette. The food was pretty good, service was decent. It was pretty lively and crowded in there, too bad they didn't have any hot sauce besides tabasco, not a huge fan of it. I was hoping they'd have something like Eggs Florentine, Eggs Blackstone, or Eggs Benedict, but unfortunately they didn't have anything like that.

my office is about a block away from the good neighbor so i eat there at least a few times a month. being a vegetarian, i can't comment on the majority of the menu, but i will say the food i've had there is really good. i especially enjoy a new-ish addition, the soy chorizo breakfast burrito. in addition to the good food though, the people who run the place are super friendly and always make you feel welcome. also, one of the guys who works there can often be seen wearing a pretty cool ghostbusters t-shirt. i always walk there, but the parking lot looks like a nightmare. i'd go for street meter parking if you want to decrease your chances of a door ding or scrape.

I love this place. Yes the walls are covered with autographs of people you never knew were once famous - but whatever - its LA. It just looks good. The coffee is the worst coffee I ever had. It was weak, bland and no amounts of sugar could make it any better. I ordered the vegetarian omelete that had zucchini, mushrooms, carrots, and onions with a side of fruit. I was so excited when it came out. It looked beautiful, like a page out of fine dining magazine. My boyfriend ordered eggs benedict with spinach, and an onion bagel with butter. The food was COLD. When a restaurant serves you cold eggs and thinks that's okay, you know you have a problem. I would never recommend this place to a single soul. It seriously sucks. Terrible coffee, stupid service, cold eggs. Not something you want to deal with when you are trying to cure the holy hangover from hell. Of course this means I will never go there again, and I'm pretty sure my boyfriend won't either. A little tid bit- if you don't live neighborhood, parking sucks. The place is located in a small plaza and has barely any parking.

We flew into LAX on Tuesday and wanted to find a place to have lunch since we pretty much missed breakfast. Not knowing the area, I had no idea where to go, I only knew I did not want fast food, or a lame chain restaurant which we have plenty of in my neck of the woods. So thanks to getting lost, and going on wild goose chases thanks to our outdated GPS Garmin, we ended up here. It looked like a neighborhood diner, and I am always willing to give a family type diner a try. I feel bad that I have not written a review before because I just LOVE this place. They have been in business for over 40 years and I have been going to them for at least the last 16. They are breakfast and lunch only. The food is good and there are lots of options. Whatever I get, I make sure to get the cottage fries. So good and not at all greasy. They also do wine, mimosas and beer if you are the kind that needs to take the edge off at breakfast. Oh and I love their coffee (which they also serve in the recent addition of an attached coffee shop "Good Neighbarista"). The food is good but I have to tell you that is NOT why I continue to bring them my business. The owners are the nicest people. And they are always there. It is THEIR business and they treat it as such. Many of their staff members have been there forever too. And if you know anything about working in restaurants, you know that means they treat their employees well. I have definitely had the occasional star sighting there and it is is the kind of place that respects the stars privacy and none of the staff or customers bother them. The walls are lined with Hollywood head shots from past eras. It's altogether a charming place to spend your morning. If you are in town for just a little while or are one of those people who live here and haven't had the chance to try them yet, please stop by. Occasionally there is a little wait, but never too long. It is worth your time. Please support this local business. You will be glad you did.

Great prices and great food. I found this gem right here on Yelp! Wanted to find a great place for breakfast while on our trip to Universal Studios, so I got on Yelp and started searching. The Good Neighbor restaurant is only a few minutes drive from the Universal Sheraton Hotel. The staff is extremely nice and helpful and everything we ate was delicious. The place is small but we were there early before any crowds. The parking lot is small also, but some street parking is available. Many celebrities have visited here and they have their pictures hanging on the walls. I will definitely return here again when in the area.

It's run by a super friendly family; the hostess is a doll, the fella who welcomes you is super cool too (I believe they're the owners). Our waiter and busboy were very nice and efficient as well. I recommend their buttermilk pancakes which are made with perfection. Very yummy and big, as they're very generous with their portions. When you leave the restaurant the hosts make sure to smile and say "thank you" which is a nice touch. Nowadays we see so many rude and unhappy employees who can't wait to toss us out of their restaurants as fast as they can (after they take our money, of course), but at GNR the staff go above and beyond to please their clientele. There was a variety of definite locals and regulars here which made me feel oddly at home since it was my first time. I ordered a cup of coffee, which was filled constantly, and I ordered the Strawberry pancakes, fluffy, but were only ok because it was soggy and I kinda wished there were some in top. There was the right amount of staff - if there can be such a thing - because everyone had food or drink or conversation in hand. Positives: The staff was exceptionally friendly and attentive. Negatives: the food was mediocre and under seasoned. There was no kids menu provided so I had to buy my child a full price meal. One of the "classic" dishes included chicken that tasted boiled and heavily doused in paprika yet the name was tarragon chicken (I never found the tarragon). Even with extra salt and pepper the meal came across as bland. I was hoping for a good family breakfast and did not find it here.

I've been walking to the Good Neighbor Cafe for about a year now. It's become my weekend breakfast spot. I usually get the breakfast combo with pancakes or French toast depending on my mood. Occasionally I'll order an omelet or sandwich but tend to stick to the combo. They usually have a 5-10 min wait. So I'll go and get a coffee from their new add on. This place is always consistent and always delicious. I haven't had one bad meal and the service is always excellent.

Just got back from this place after having a trip over for midday breakfast food. It was really busy and there was a que therefore we were waiting about 15 minutes to be seated. It's a decent sized place, with a cosy feel but just a standard type of diner. The service people were polite and friendly which is always nice. Both of us ordered the combination breakfast with French toast, sausage and eggs. It arrived between 10-15 minutes later which was quite reasonable considering how busy they were. $20 for 2 people isn't that cheap for the amount of food you get but is probably average for this place, LA. Everything is overpriced in this city and this decent little spot is no different. Anyway I left feeling slightly hungry still but the food was nothing special, just standard diner food, not greasy and the eggs were done nicely. Overall, nice environment good menu selection but wouldn't rush back here going by the food I had today. On the plus side nothing was bad or terrible haha.

I've been in here a few times over the last year and each time I've suggested to the owners that they at least have real maple syrup as an option for customers who will pay extra for it (would it kill them to buy a jug of it to keep in the back) and so far they haven't seemed to care. Lets put canned diced tomatoes, overcooked spinach n cold mushrooms, green peppers n onions (definitely straight from freezer bag) and slap them on top of an egg n fold it over for an omelette. Lol the "cottage fries" are half thawed potatoes from the freezer. I'd like my $15 back. The place is nothing special that I'd go out of my way to go eat. BUT it really is neighborly and food is simple and delicious. Pancake was made perfectly fluffy and french toast was done just right.

I'm conflicted. The service was excellent. Huge portions and it arrived quickly from a friendly staff person... Yet my breakfast (simple omlette with 3 ingredients and orange juice) was really bland. Super bland. I added salt and was still bummed. I want to support them because the service was great and they were the right amount of attentive and the price was good, yet I can't force myself to go somewhere if the food isn't that good. Good Neighbor is the best breakfast restaurants in the valley. I have been eating here for over 30 years and I can tell you that the service is always great, the people are friendly, the food is always good, they keep the place clean, the price is reasonable. I am a very picky eater and I have never been disappointed with the Good Neighbor. I highly recommend Good Neighbor as a breakfast place. They make great omelets, cottage fries, and burgers.

Mediocre. Sat down at 2pm and ordered a drink. A runner brought that out soon. However I sat there for another 15 mins before anyone came by to see if I wanted to order. I said that I did, so he went to grab an server. It's now 2:20 and I finally placed my order (tri tip= bland and fatty). The only positive I can say that the food came out really fast. But then again there was only 4 other tables. The food was mediocre. Not to mention it had 2 strands of hair that was not mine. The server never came back to check on me at all. The runner eventually came back with a refill. Mediocre food. Mediocre service. Decent price.

The food was disgusting and the service was terrible. The Bistro Breakfast Sandwich tasted like airline food, as did the scrambled eggs that came with the breakfast combination. The "cottage fries" were dry and chewy and the peppers and onions that came with them were burnt. It was clear that they were not cooked together, and the potatoes were not fresh. The french toast was dry and obviously not fresh either. Looking at the "kitchen," it's clear why this is the case. They have several freezers and a very small food preparation area, so most of the food is just frozen food that has been heated up. If I wanted to eat disgusting frozen food I would have gone to the grocery store at a fraction of the cost. When I go to a restaurant I expect fresh ingredients prepared well. On top of that, the service was terrible. The waitress came to our table twice: once to take our order, and once to drop off our food. We needed more napkins, we ran out of our ordered beverages and drank all of our water, and at no point were we asked how our food was. When we had finished we put our napkins on our plates to indicate that we were ready for the bill, and after 10 minutes of being ignored we went up to the register and when asked for our check we told them we had been waiting and had not received it, but that we needed to go. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a decent meal. There are several better options in the area, such as Studio City Cafe on Colfax and Ventura, Crave Cafe or Dupars on Ventura east of Laurel Canyon, or Aroma Cafe on Tujunga.

Just what a neighborhood breakfast place should be! It is bright and lively inside but tables are not toooo close, making the place comfortably alive. Serves breakfast 'til 3 pm everyday; how very civilized! Staff were friendly and polite. They were busy on this Monday morning and kindly apologized for a relatively short wait. Food had a wide selection with good basic attention to detail (cottage cheese side had paprika sprinkles; hot tea had a real teapot with selection of teas, etc). Portions more than generous at a very reasonable price. When the hipsters and cops are eating here you know they are doing something right!

This restaurant is so LOVELY! My relatives and I dropped in to this place in quite the rush. We told the wait staff, and they did everything possible to accelerate our dining experience in a comfortable, efficient manner. When our waiter went on break, he specifically came to the table to let us know, thus ensuring a smooth transition. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. It was filling, non-greasy, and flavorful. It is also a short distance away from another delightful family-owned restaurant, Miceli's Italian. Go to this place for breakfast and/or lunch, then go see Hollywood, and come back to the area for dinner at Miceli's. Prepare to be amazed by what family-owned restaurants can do. Your restaurant-chain dining experience will never be the same again.

One of my favorite breakfast spots in the Valley. I used to work at the Universal NBC tower so was constantly ordering their food for the office. I went here recently and the food was okay. Maybe because it was the weekend. But I was happy to see that the place was still managed by the family. Customer service is still great. When I went recently, there wasn't a wait. Used to wait 30 mins on the weekend. My favorite are the omlettes with cottage fries. For lunch I would order the BLTs and the Tuna Melts. Yumm! Parking is difficult so get there early to get a spot or just park on the street.

Great place to eat breakfast and lunch... Usually we get the tuna melt for lunch or the chicken pita sandwich . The cottage potatoes are amazing, the chipotle mayo dressing is good. Most important the class of the owners who are husband and wife is refreshing, they greet you and say thank you ! I came here for breakfast before heading over to the Warner Bros studio for the taping of the Voice finale. First off, the parking lot here is tiny and difficult to navigate. As for the decor, it's very laid back and simple. I enjoyed all the black and white photos and tributes to the old hollywood films. This place is like one big homage to icons like James Dean and Marilyn Monroe. As for the food, my sister ordered the chocolate pancakes with sausage and eggs. The pancakes were so-so and not as rich as I was expecting it to be. Also, I ordered the burger with fries and it was decent. Essentially, nothing blew my mind away but it did fill me up well. Overall, friendly service, and okay food. There is nothing super special about this place that would make me want to return to it.

The real waitress was much nicer, but the food was pretty flavorless and coffee was lousy. There's no excuse for bad coffee these days. I agree with a previous poster who pointed out that "home fries topped with sauteed peppers and onions" is actually dried out potatoes topped with 5-6 nearly raw, tiny pieces of pepper & onions. Oh well. Never believe the hotel concierge, I guess.

This was my first time eating at Good Neighbor, and it will probably be my last. Nothing too bad, but it was all mehhhh... nothing outstanding. I had scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, toast, and "cottage fries" (breakfast potatoes). The quality of the food and service were no better and occasionally somewhat worse than a regular chain restaurant. It was ok. There's not much you can do to mess up eggs, sausage, and toast. But the breakfast potatoes were particularly disappointing. They were dry and bland, mixed with tiny pieces of cooked onion and peppers that were also dry and nearly flavorless. My first cup of coffee came quickly, but refills were infrequent and I had to wave in servers. My table had only sugar and saccharin. I had to hunt the restaurant for Splenda. The check was delivered without asking me if I wanted something else. The room is very nice, in an old-school Hollywood way. That's because Good Neighbor has been in business for over 40 years. But old-school ambiance hardly makes up for spotty service and mediocre food. Staff at the register are very friendly. Breakfast for 2 people with coffee is about $25 before tax and tip. Nothing special here.

The staff is super friendly and greet you when you arrive and when you leave. Very quick on drinks and refills and your cup is never empty. I was happy with the place but I feel the food wasn't something that I would want to come back for. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't as good as other breakfast/brunch places. I do like that everything is made a bit healthier. Nothing was oily or greasy. The food was a tad bland but nothing salt and pepper couldn't fix. I think people are used to the taste of unhealthy food and don't realize the blandness is actually because it's a little more on the healthier side. That's just my opinion and I could be totally wrong. It would be nice though if they could just put a little more flavor into there dishes. Other than that, it was an enjoyable experience. FYI: the parking does suck. I have a compact car and I barely fit into the space. It's pretty much meant for smart cars. But like people said, their is still plenty of street parking.

It was our first time here at the Neighborhood Restaurant it had a cozy feeling to the place the parking lot was small and only 1 handicap space for the 4 business's. Service was ok I guess because it was a little busy sat for about 15-30 minutes before they asked us what we want to order the waiter gave us his apologies on them being busy. I had the spinach, mushroom, tomatoe omelet & home fries omelet gets 2-1/2 stars the wife had the Neighborhood breakfast with French Toast & bacon french toast was over cooked which made them firm & bacon was was way over cooked she gives her meal a 2-1/2 stars. We will be back again it was a nice place and we will try something else on their menu because what I noticed being brought out of the kitchen looked good.

Was staying at the Hilton. I'm not a fan of hotel food or buffets so, found this close by. The staff was very friendly and even though the place was very busy, the service was prompt. I had the breakfast sandwich. The croissant was still fluffy and the egg was folded around the filling. This makes it stay together much better than the places that just scramble it all together. My SO had the grilled veggie omelet and said it was very good.

OK, so I am not a fan of diner food - really - and I was disappointed when I heard that I was not going to meet my BF and Maryann P. at Miceli's across the way, as originally planned, but, but, BUT they have really, really ridiculously great service and the man at the register is very, very, very friendly and attentive! When we had finished our food they noticed we were going to stay a bit since we were chatting and they made sure we had water refills! Very nice!!!! I ordered a cheeseburger which included fries and a small coleslaw. It was just $8 AND they ask you how you want it cooked!!!! Wow! The burger was really good and even better when I put some Grey Poupon mustard on it! Yes, they have French's mustard's snooty french cousin here haha! The fries were ok. They serve those crinkly fries that remind you of frozen fries here. I don't really like the decor. They have cartoon "neighbors" painted on the outside wall and have tons of pictures of movie stars on the walls inside plus more cartoons. Parking is a big problem and getting out is even more hellish. I was very, very lucky to find a spot quick. Funny, the reason my BF and Maryann P. picked this place was because Miceli's has far worse parking issues!

Honestly I read the reviews of people. I agree with the ones that say the service is good but the food is mediocre at best. I had to put salt and pepper on my eggs to make them taste better. I cook a lot and eat very healthy so I don't use a lot of salt at all. However the food is bland. Very sad since my fiancée has been wanting to come here for a while. I was always curious to come here because every morning I would drive by and Once I did I was extremely Disappointed. So I came here on a Saturday morning because My car was getting Maintenance at the Nissan dealership up the Street. So I walked here with my Family and Once we walked in we got sat quickly but the Host looked like they had just woken up and he sat us by the Window w/ the sun unpleasantly beaming down my face, we Ordered coffee which was really watery and not charged at all. We then order the food and we all got the Traditional breakfast and Waited what felt like forever to get the food, only to have these stale Potato fries and the eggs were runny and the toast was dryer than the Mohave Desert! Suffice to say that I will never come back here it just wasn't worth it to have a crappy Breakfast. I guess my experience here wasn't as great as the other Yelpers who've reviewed this place but not everyone experiences the same thing.

Wow, I'm not sure it's because I had higher expectations or what but I really wasn't pleased going here. I mean the service was ok, the parking lot is tiny and cramp but the food, man everything I tasted I can cook better. The best tasting thing was the sausage, but we didn't even finish our meal because we thought it was so bad. 40 years old this year, I was informed. I had bookmarked this place for awhile, and it was nice to finally come here. Reminiscent of the dear departed Silver Spoon, and yet GNR is its own place. The Denver Omlette (sort of my yardstick) was good --- if not as hearty as, say, Silver Spoon. It's also a bit cheaper, so maybe you get what you pay for. However, if you want to add some real pep and ask for their homemade salsa, you will begin to make up the difference. While I liked the salsa, it's too much of a bowl for even someone like I who slathers my dish with it. At $1.75 extra, I'd suggest make the portion half the size and charge a buck. The ham in the Denver is minced, and at first not all that meaty. I like the quality of the ham --- but I think I'd like more of the ham, peppers, and onions. The onion, in fact, were almost impossible to locate. Fruit is an extra buck if you choose that over their 'cottage' fries (really just FF with onion/peppers atop), or tomatoes. The toast was fine, but special mention goes to the jellies. Either grape or strawberry, and they were both good. I like the presences of the berry in the strawberry jelly. The coffee is perfectly decent diner coffee -- certainly better that say, DuPar's. Good clean bathrooms; pleasant music; helpful service. Nice environment where you might see a bunch of musicians and/or engineers. Fun alternative to the surrounding venues. Parking lot is the big challenge. Keep your fingers crossed! But it's worth, so I'll not worrying too much about that.

honestly the nicest owners, family friendly, been going there for 10 years never had a bad meal or experience and that says ALOT. I am very picky! The best breakfast, tomato basil soup and fresh salsa in town. The tuna melt is killer and nothing like their cottage fries. They just opened a coffee shop next door with awesome brownie bites and lemon bars. I can't say enough nice things. Yes parking can be tricky but there is plenty of street parking.

I really don't get why people love this place. I ate here once-- the place is always crowded, the service staff is unfriendly, the food is nasty podunk-town grill food, the potatoes might actually be made out of cardboard! Good Neighbor is the perfect name for this place. The food is good, not great and it isn't necessarily a place that I'd seek out but when I'm in the neighborhood, it's a nice, comfortable place to sit down and have a meal. The breakfast dishes are all solid and I've become a fan of the chicken/mushroom melt and the service is always top notch. I haven't had a meal that has blown me away but, then again, I haven't had a bad meal there either and that's not something I can say about too many diners in LA.

The omelets are pretty amazing! This place is family owned-I love that. Story is, a waitress who worked at this place back in 1979 bought it in 1980(?) and her family helps to run the place! My friend and I came here in search of a new place to have breakfast. The restaurant is pretty casual and the tables are small. The service is super friendly (thanks Nicole) and the coffee is good. We both ordered omelets; mine was the tarragon chicken and his was the beef fajita. He ordered fruit and I the cottage potatoes. We both got cottage potatoes. :( Both of our omelets were HUGE and full of flavor..well, mine could have used some salt, but overall they were both VERY tasty. The cottage potatoes are pre-frozen fat potato "chips" that felt nuked and then sautéed bell peppers and onions are thrown over them. This at least is how they were presented. I give three stars because the omelets, coffee, and service were darn good-but overall this place wasn't darn amazing.

A friend and I have been coming here every Thursday for years and they have never missed the mark. Okay, so they have a small parking lot, but it's not their fault the food is so good that it draws a crowd. The fact that the place is always full after being in business after so many years speaks volumes. I usually order the Denver omelet with pepper jack and a side of roasted Jalapenos and it consistently hits on every cylinder. Last week I ordered a pastrami/Reuben and the darn thing coated my insides like a baby blanket for almost the entire day. We also enjoy the company of Shauna, who is one of the best waitresses around. She endures my friends lack of social graces, which is not easy, and is quick to put him in his place if need be... Suffice to say she is great, as is the entire staff (although there is one tired eyed floater who drifts around, but I am never sure if he is an employee or not, heh, heh). All in all, if there is anything bad about this place, it's that they don't serve biscuits and gravy... If they ever do, I'll probably move in.

Stopped here on the spur of the moment headed home from a Charity Walk and so glad we did! It read "Home Style Breakfast" on the outside window and YES IT WAS! Delicious food, nice people, and laid back crowd. Will definitely return with purpose!

Had the Chicken Fajita Omelette here for $9.45. the omelete has three eggs, chicken breast, bell peppers, onions, and Moneterey jack cheese. This comes with toast and jam with your selection of a side. I also got fresh fruit for a dollar extra. Everything was good and fresh. I'm happy that I finally got to eat at this place after many years of living in the area. The staff was great and service was fast. Loved the fact that they have the LA Times paper for you to read while eating or waiting on food. You should park on the street to avoid the small parking lot and def check this place out.

Breakfast restaurants serving a great breakfast are hard to come by, for years Mo's in Toluca Lake served a tasty mix of everything one could want but those days are gone, no more are they open early morning during the week so we stumbled in to this Breakfast Restaurant...everything was completely bland, eggs had no flavor, grilled chicken was dry and flavorless and "cottage fries" would work in a rest home, come to think of it that was what the food tasted like it was prepared for...no thanks!

We loved this homey-feel diner where you can get a classic breakfast that is fresh and not greasy! Staying at the Sheraton Universal, we found this place on Yelp while on vacation in LA. We both had omelettes that were prepared perfectly, loved the onions they use! Their hash brown potatoes with peppers and onions were delicious, and a fresh strawberry jam with the toast topped it all off! Go with the multi-grain toast ;) Service was quick & courteous and pricing is right.

My infant son and I were staying close by while vacationing this winter. I ate here both days that we stayed for breakfast and I was really impressed. Delicious breakfast and super friendly service. I had the corned beef hash and eggs and everything was delicious. Great for celebrity spotting as well. I saw James Vanderbeek there.

LOVE EVERYTHING! This place reminds me of living in the Midwest. Everyone that works there smiles at you, talks to you like you are best friends, and treats you very well. The menu is huge; it has so many yummy things to choose from. The atmosphere is inviting and comfortable. My new favorite place for blueberry pancakes and build-your-own omelets. Their fruit smoothies beat the popular chain stores!

Stayed at the Hilton and wanted a cafe kind of breakfast. I was pleasantly surprised to find the good neighbor restaurant so close. It's got great food and seems to be mom and pop owned kind of place. It's the perfect mesh of old school meets new school. They have old school favorites and then great new choices like smoothies, mimosas and iced lattes. Delicious. Wish there was a place like this where I was from. Parking is tough but where in the city is it easy? Loved it.

On vacation and tired of Denny's, hotel staff recommended this place. Good food. Lighter flavor, the flavor is not as sharp as like a Denny's but goes down smooth. Will eat there again. Oh, and they have a real cafe connected so you can order lattes or espresso with your breakfast :)

I'm surprised I haven't written about Good Neighbor. LOVE this place! Is it a "fine dining" experience? No. Is the food good? Absolutely!! This is a family owned eatery... the service could not be better. You smile from the minute you walk in. Everyone from the owners who greet you at the door to the bus boys & girls... they all are so friendly. I love their soups, sandwiches and the best... the Patty Melt. Yum!! A very popular stop for the studio crowd... it doesn't get much better than this!

I HEART this restaurant. This is my boyfriend and I's go-to for breakfast/lunch every weekend. Good Neighbor is family owned & operated for 37 years - the husband/wife team is there every weekend. Everyone is super friendly, they chat with us and even remember our orders. What I love: -Omelettes are perfection and delicious, I like to make my own but the ham is cheese is great for hangovers -Potatoes are not greasy at all and I get them plain without the onions -Turkey salad are made fresh daily and it has celery and a touch of raisins -Options of soy chorizo and sausage -Mimosas! -Celebrity sightings They are open from 7am-3pm and serve breakfast and lunch all day. Oh and they have the best candy in the candy bowl by the cash rep.

Was at Universal Studios area looking for a breakfast place and after seeing the great reviews on yelp we decided to bring a hungry group here. I called ahead and they got us seated right away on a busy Saturday morning. The staff was extremely friendly and felt like a family running the business. Most of us ordered a breakfast special which is only $8.75 for pancakes or french toast, saugage or bacon, and eggs & toast. The menu is full of great choices and everything we ordered was so delicious. I will definitely be back whenever I am in the area. No complaints from anyone in our group of 7 people.

Law enforcement loves the Good Neighbor! Seriously - every morning I drive by, I see several squad cars parked outside. This tells you 2 things: It's delicious and it's safe. My favorite here is the chicken salad sandwich - the raisins give it just the right amount of sweetness. Everything else is pretty good - my coworkers are big fans of the home fries. Breakfast is served all day, too. Service is always warm and friendly -- plus they're willing to hand out individual bills, so that coming with a large party isn't too much of a pain. Lot parking, street parking available, though it gets crowded!

I came here with my BF one morning looking for a nice breakfast but unfortunately we did not find it. The ambiance was nice and the servers are friendly, but the food was a little lacking for us. I had pancakes, bacon, and eggs. The bacon and eggs were fine, but the pancakes were chewy and not very good. My BF had an omelet with a side of potatoes. The omelet was OK but his potatoes looked like something out of the freezer section of the grocery store. I don't think we will be back.

Came here for breakfast because when I did a yelp search this came up. My friend likes old school places so we ended up here. Boy, was it a mistake! The breakfast was so ordinary, so boring, so....... *sigh* uninspiring that neither of us was terribly interested in finishing it, but we did because we were hungry. Service was really so-so, unmemorable and when you put that together with the meal, it really made me wonder how it got such a high rating on here. My friend ordered a glass of milk and was asked small or large... omg the small was like a kiddie cup's worth. We actually cracked up when it was brought to the table. Mindboggling to say the least! Our breakfast was so mediocre -- the pancakes were mushy in texture, sausages were teenie, really disappointing! The only 'exciting' moment was when this woman came in and sat down and I recognized her as being one of the SNL cast members. I couldn't remember her name at the time, but after googling I'm sure she was Cheri Oteri.

Came here for a late breakfast over the weekend, everyone was very friendly and attentive. There was no wait to be seated but the place was pretty full. I ordered the chorizo burrito with orange juice. The BF ordered corned beef hash with hash browns. The food wasn't bad, but nothing great either. The juice was fresh squeezed which was nice. The prices were reasonable also.

This is such an "it" spot for breakfast and brunch in Studio City; took a stroll into the Good Neighbor Restaurant this past weekend for a late breakfast and was pleasantly surprised at the quick service and delicious food. We weren't expecting there to be a wait, but it moved fairly quickly and all things considered for a Sunday Brunch, we were seated promptly. Immediately after being seated, the waiters were on us about food, drinks and the like - and our food was brought back out in record time. I tried the Denver omelette and was so satisfied, even their mimosas were delish!

Great little restaurant to eat at for breakfast. I work right down the street so it's convenient for me. The parking lot is extremely limited for spaces so you might want to look around for parking outside of it. Once you walk in, you'll notice many portraits (signed) by music artists, celebrities and singers. It's actually quite interesting and the food is actually pretty good. However, beware that it can be a pricey breakfast as well. $2.75 for a SMALL OJ might be a bit too much, but what can I say? It is where the rich folks and celebrities eat. lol.

I usually get the Breakfast Special with coffee and it's more than I would like to pay for a simple breakfast I could make myself at home, but when you're too hungover to cook, it's perfect. We wanted to try a new breakfast spot in the area and found this one on Yelp. Wasn't really impressed. We didn't dislike it but we are not fans. I had the Honey Wheat pancakes (very good and fluffy) with eggs and bacon special and the bf had a chorizo burrito (which was all egg with very little chorizo) and a handful of fried potatoes. Not really good OJ (kind of tart) and I wasn't a fan of the coffee (it should make you sing lol). Nice restaurant, full of light, very clean and reasonably priced. Service was a little slow, even though we were there at peak time, we had to keep looking for our waitress for service. I won't be going back. Not because we had a bad experience...it was great but the food didn't speak to me LOL. It's got to draw you back right??

I only come here when I have someone with me that likes to eat breakfast as much as I do! They do have a good breakfast menu! I ordered the polish sausage with sunny side up eggs. I could have had the potatoes but I ordered the sliced tomatoes to make myself feel like I'm watching my carb intake! Coffee is average and the tables are small and crammed together. The food makes up for it. The service was professional and prompt. I didn't want to go all the way to a 5-star but they are a solid 4! If you like breakfast, then you'll like this place. Parking in the lot is a task but I usually will go on a Saturday morning when the other businesses are closed and parking is a bit more available.

Yummy! This may be one of our favorite breakfast places in L.A. The downside is the parking, the lot is small and the street parking is metered. On a Sunday morning there can often be a line, but we generally don't wait more than 10 minutes. The breakfasts are tasty! My husband often gets their omelet specials. I've had their breakfast burrito, breakfast sandwich, french toast, eggs, etc. Never a bad meal and always decent service. The restaurant appears to be run by a family that is hardworking and I really respect that!

Choices, Choices and Choices. That's one of the things you'll get at Good Neighbor Restaurant. I got the fajita omelette with potatoes. The potatoes were nice and cripsy and delicious. The steak was not as great as I'd hoped it would be, but it was good enough for me to chow down on. The fruit plate was extremely fresh and looked very good coming out. The menu was huge and I wanted to find something else to try next time I come. There's really not much else to say, but I did have a good experience here and there was a good vibe to the whole restaurant, even if me and my friend were the only ones under 40 that were there.

I checked this place out for lunch and was very impressed. -Selection: Very good with a number of vegetarian options. The main items are sandwiches, pitas, burgers. salads (which are more expensive than the other items), and breakfast. If you order a sandwich and burger (I believe) they have a variety of sides that you can choose from. I ordered the avocado & swiss pita... yum!!! -Food: Delicious, fresh, and was served in good timing -Prices: Fair -Restaurant: Small with lots of windows up front and somewhat dark in the back. The decore is definitely Hollywood-esque. -Staff: Everyone was nice and helpful -Location: Very convenient if you live or work within walking distance. If not, there is a very small parking lot that is shared with a few other shops or you can find street parking (metered). -Overall: A great place for breakfast or lunch... quick, easy & delicious Next time I'm in the area, I'll stop in here again. Ate breakfast with the girlfriend here one weekday morning. Light traffic made it an easy trip and parked right in front. I had the breakfast burrito and she had a waffle. The waffles were boring she tells me, but the burrito I had was great. I recommend it!

If you are looking for a great hole in the wall breakfast joint where "everybody knows your name," Good Neighbor is the place to go! They have great brunch and low prices! When you walk in the owners great you and they remember your face! It's my staple breakfast place for the weekend. My fiance really likes the Hollywood Sandwich... it's "different." I LOVE the tomato bisque soup. The cobb salad is great. When you have the choice, get the cottage fries! Also, try the ranch dressing, it's SO GOOD!

Just cruised around today looking for a breakfast spot before heading into Universal Studios and caught glimpse of the GNR. Looked like an average diner with a big space. Why not try it out when the name promotes community right off the bat. After perusing the menu and soaking in the cool Hollywood Headshots and steaming black coffee, I thought to have a little input from the server. Our server was cheerful and very friendly. I asked which is a better option: the Breakfast Special or Eggs ala Frisdale. She went with the Frisdale and I agreed. The poached were delicate and fresh on top of what I personally believed was a tad overcooked spinach on an english muffin. The muffin was great texture and flavor. I had asked to add avocado which is always necessary with Benedictesque dishes. The substitute hollandaise is a cheddar cheese sauce that lacked true cheese nature and could have been a little richer. However, the house potatoes were awesome. Fried little rounds that were not greasy and soggy. They were crisp and had a ton of flavor. All in all, for $8 I was really satisfied and saw that my mom was just as pleased with her tomato, bacon and swiss omelete. Overall great experience and really relaxed enviro. Check it out as your morning charge up while in NoHo or Universal City.

Busy...busy...busy. It's a cute little cafe near Universal City walk or Universal Studios and you just can't go wrong. There are tons of pictures of actors and producers that has eaten at the restuarant and I think we did see someone there that day. But it is packed. Parking can be a little difficult but there is an attendant there to help assist but you are better off parking in the streets than the little shopping area. I had the chicken friedn steak and eggs and it was gooooood!!!! My girl had an omelete and it was tasty. I would definitely recommend it to all. It's fun and the owners really know their customers which shows how great they are.

This place is just about as A-OK as you can get. Not incredible, but just OK. Service is always stellar, but the food is pretty average. The parking lot is always atrocious however, but not their fault. I say if you want some decent diner food and you're in the area... go for it.

The Good Neighbor Restaurant is a fitting name for this establishment, because the waitstaff really exude all the characteristics of a good neighbor. My waitress had a smile every time she checked on us, and I couldn't help but feel at home the whole time. My favorite meal to eat at diners is breakfast, so I had the egg white vegetable omelet with wheat toast and a side of cottage cheese. The portions are huge, and the filling in my omelet was generous. If you love bacon, you should order it here. I don't know how they do it but the bacon looks so photogenic, 'Food Network' status! Perfectly crispy. Menu-wise you would find a lot of the staples of any other diner, so don't expect to order your "Tomato-less Bloody Mary Breakfast Hamburger Extravaganza" here. If you like old-fashioned diners and good old-fashioned service, why not take a chance here? You may be pleasantly surprised.

It is sad to give a 3 star review for this restaurant because everyone seemed to be very nice there, except our waitress. Maybe she was having a bad morning, but it made our experience not so good. We were seated very promptly when we got there, and got our drinks right away. But it took the waitress a long time to get to us and take our order on a mellow morning. The bus boy (man) was alot more helpful than she was... however I don't think he gets the tip that we left... therefore I didn't leave a very big tip. Now it's time to talk about the food. It was really good, I definitely can't make food of that quality at home. I think it's worth coming back again for the breakfast.
